Michael Jackson died

Personal physician couldn't save Michael: brother

Emergency hospital workers tried for over an hour to resuscitate pop icon Michael Jackson after he collapsed at home from an apparent heart attack, brother and official family spokesman Jermaine Jackson said.

Jackson's death sent shockwaves sweeping across the world and saw tributes pour in for the tortured music icon revered as the ''King of Pop.''

He collapsed at his rented mansion in the exclusive Los Angeles neighbourhood of Holmby Hills and was rushed to hospital by paramedics before being pronounced dead at 2.26 pm (7.26am Queensland time).

"His personal physician who was with him at the time attempted to resuscitate my brother," Jermaine Jackson read from a prepared statement.

"His personal physician who was with him at the time attempted to resuscitate my brother," Jermaine Jackson read from a prepared statement.

"As did the paramedics who transported him to Ronald Reagan UCLA medical centre.

"Upon arriving at the hospital, at approximately 1.14pm (6.14am Queensland time), a team of doctors including emergency physicians and cardiologists attempted to resuscitate him. For periods of more than one hour. They were unsuccessful," he said.

"Our family requests that the media please respect our privacy during this tough time," he said. "May Allah be with you, Michael, always."

Jermaine Jackson is a Muslim.

Los Angeles police Lieutenant Gregg Strenk said at a separate news conference that police robbery-homicide detectives have been ordered to investigate, which is common in a high-profile case.

Strenk says the coroner's office, which will handle inquiries into the type of death, is taking possession of the body.

Jackson, one of the most influential figures in pop music history whose four-decade career included the highest-selling album of all-time, Thriller, had been preparing for a concert comeback in London next month that he had dubbed ''the final curtain.''

The tour was to be the first of a series of shows in more than a decade and the first since his 2005 child molestation trial.

Jackson had pushed back the opening dates last month, although organisers insisted the delay was not linked to Jackson's health.

Randy Phillips of concert backers AEG Live said at the time: ''I would trade my body for his tomorrow. He's in fantastic shape.''

But Jackson lawyer and family spokesman Brian Oxman said he had had concerns about the singer's condition, revealing that Jackson had been taking prescription medication as he prepared for his comeback.

Oxman compared Jackson's fate to the overdose death of Playboy centrefold Anna-Nicole Smith, voicing concern over ''enablers'' in his entourage.

''The people who have surrounded him have been enabling him... if you think that the case of Anna-Nicole Smith was an abuse, it was nothing to what we have seen in Michael Jackson's life,'' Oxman told CNN.

''When you warn people that this is what's going to happen and then it happens -- where there's smoke there's fire.''

News of Jackson's death triggered an outpouring of grief as shocked pop music superstars, foreign governments and devoted fans paid tribute to the troubled star who struggled to rebuild his career after a 2005 acquittal for child abuse.

Los Angeles County coroner's spokesman Lieutenant Fred Corral said an autopsy would is likely to be carried out on Friday. He would not speculate on the exact cause of death.

Jackson's brother Jermaine, the family's official spokesman, later revealed physicians had battled for more than an hour to revive the star after his arrival at the UCLA Medical Center, before he was pronounced dead.

''Our family requests that the media please respect our privacy during this tough time,'' Jermaine Jackson said.

''May Allah be with you, Michael, always.''

As the sun began to sink over Los Angeles, a coroner's office helicopter bearing Jackson's body took off from the UCLA Medical Center, where hundreds of media and fans had gathered throughout the day.

Meanwhile police motorcycle riders surrounded Jackson's gated mansion as crowds of tourists and fans gathered, snapping photographs of the property's wrought iron gates.

Pop diva Madonna was among dozens of celebrities who struggled to cope.

''I can't stop crying over the sad news. The world has lost one of the greats but his music will live on forever.'' the singer said in a statement

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband also posted his thoughts on micro-blogging site Twitter.

''Never has one soared so high and yet dived so low. RIP Michael,'' Miliband wrote.

Lana Brown, a 49-year-old tourist from Dallas, broke down in tears as she digested the news.

''Right today I can't believe we might have lost the best entertainer this world has ever seen,'' she saidP.

While Jackson ruled the charts and dazzled audiences with electric dance moves like the backwards ''moonwalk'' in the 1980s, his once-stellar career was overshadowed by his colourful public behaviour, his startling physical transformation and multiple allegations of child abuse.

Jackson lived as a virtual recluse following his 2005 acquittal on charges including child molestation and plotting to kidnap his young accuser.

Despite his acquittal, the trial was a body blow from which the pop music superstar, who named his ranch for Peter Pan's ''Neverland'' of perpetual childhood and furnished it with Disney-inspired rides, struggled to recover.

Four years later, Jackson was still worshipped by fans for revolutionising music, dance and music videos at the peak of his success.

The attention paid to him in recent years was less flattering, focusing on apparent cosmetic surgery -- which he denies -- his baby dangling antics and a decade of child abuse allegations.

Born on August 29, 1958, Jackson made his show business debut with four of his older brothers in the Jackson Five pop group and went on to lead the stage clan with a piping soprano and dazzling dance moves.

By 1969 the group had signed a contract with Motown Records, becoming one of the last great acts to emerge from the legendary label.

The Jacksons produced seven platinum singles for Motown, selling more than a million, and three multi-platinum albums, selling more than two million. They moved to CBS's Epic Records in 1976.

Despite the early success, Jackson was to recall those years as unhappy and lonely ones. Eventually the family act broke up and Jackson went solo.

In 1979 Quincy Jones produced Jackson's first solo album for Epic, ``Off the Wall,'' a huge disco-oriented success that sold 10 million copies.

They teamed up again in 1982 for what would be Jackson's breakthrough album as a composer and co-producer, ''Thriller,''. It became the top-selling album of all time, with sales exceeding 41 million.

Jones reacted with shock after being informed of Jackson's death on Thursday.

''I'm absolutely devastated at this news. I just don't have the words. Divinity brought our souls together and allowed us to do what we could do through the '80s,'' Jones said.

''To this day that music is played in every corner of the world and the reason is because he had it all -- talent, grace, and professionalism. I've lost my little brother today and part of my soul has gone with him.''

Michael Jackson Public Memorial Set For July 7 At Staples Center

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- The public memorial for Michael Jackson will take place on Tuesday, July 7, 2009, in Los Angeles, Access Hollywood has learned.

The "private and public memorial" will be held at the Staples Center in downtown LA at 10 AM, AEG Live president Randy Phillips told NBC News.

Phillips said all of the details would be finalized when he meets with the Jackson family Thursday afternoon.

"Everything is in preliminary stages except the place and time," Phillips told NBC.

AEG Live is the organization which was behind Jackson's planned 50-show stint in London.

Should capacity be reached for the nearly 20,000-seat stadium, Phillips said the overflow crowd will be able to watch the memorial on large screens at nearby Nokia Plaza.

Despite reports that the public ceremony will be a funeral, a source close to the situation previously told Access Hollywood executive producer Rob Silverstein it will actually be a memorial to the King of Pop, who died last week at the age of 50.

Michael Jackson was killed - and he wore a wig.

The Los Angeles County coroner released autopsy results Wednesday which confirmed that the King of Pop was the victim of a homicide and revealed other details of his death.

The 51-page report backed the coroner's determination made last August the Jackson died from "acute propofol intoxication."

Jackson's personal doctor, Conrad Murray, told investigators he gave the entertainer the powerful sedative to help him sleep.

Dr. Selma Calmes, the outside consultant who reviewed the coroner's findings, said propofol is not supposed to be used for "insomnia relief, to my knowledge."

"The only reports of its use in homes are cases of fatal abuse (first reported in 1992), suicide, murder and accident," Calmes wrote.

Also, the "recommended equipment for patient monitoring, precision dosing and resuscitation was not present."

"The standard of care for administering propofol was not met," Calmes wrote.

The autopsy did not dwell on Jackson's penchant for plastic surgery, but it confirmed that the 50-year-old music icon went to great lengths to maintain his Peter Pan persona.

"The decedent's head hair is sparse and connected to a wig," the report stated.

Jackson also had tattooed on black eyeliner and a "pink tatoo" near his lips.

More ominously, there also were "puncture wounds" on Jackson's right neck, right arm, "both arms and both ankles," the report states.

Investigators counted a total of 13 puncture marks on Jackson, who was 5 feet 9 inches tall but weighed a mere 136 pounds.

"A red discoloration is prominent on the center of his chest," the report states.

And while Jackson died in a Los Angeles mansion, for reasons unclear "there was also an external urine catheter present."

Jackson suffered from vitiligo, a condition that causes the skin to lose pigment. That too was noted in the report.

The report concluded that Jackson was suffering from a host of ailments when he died, including "chronic lung inflammation, respiratory bronchiolitis, diffuse congestion and patchy hemorrhage of right and left lungs."

In addition to propofol, the autopsy revealed that Jackson had a veritable pharmacy flowing in his veins, with traces of lidocaine, diazepam, nordiazepam, lorazepam, midazolam and ephedrine in his blood.

Murray was charged with involuntary manslaughter on Monday, prompting outrage from the Jackson family who believe the doctor should have been charged with murder.

The Houston-based cardiologist, who was with Jackson when he died on June 25, has pleaded not guilty and faces up to four years in prison if convicted.

Michael Jackson's burial delayed

Michael Jackson's remains will be buried in Los Angeles on 3 September - not 29 August as had been announced, a Jackson family spokesman has said.

In a statement, Ken Sunshine did not say why the date had been changed.
He said the "King of Pop" would be interred in the Forest-Lawn memorial park in Glendale at a private ceremony.
The Jackson family said earlier he would buried on 29 August on what would have been his 51st birthday. The cause of his death in June remains unclear.
The Great Mausoleum at the Forest Lawn memorial park is protected with security cameras and access is carefully regulated.
Exhibition
The mausoleum contains a stained-glass replica of Leonardo da Vinci's painting The Last Supper and also copies of statues by Michelangelo.
A different Forest Lawn cemetery in Los Angeles provided the setting for the memorial service held by the family in the hours leading up to the globally televised tribute concert on 7 July.
His coffin was taken to the concert and remained on stage while family members and celebrities paid tribute to the star.
Meanwhile, a court has approved a deal allowing a tour of the pop star's memorabilia.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff said the agreement between Jackson's estate and a company owned by AEG Live is "in the best interest of the estate".
The touring exhibition is expected to start at London's O2 arena at the end of October, to coincide with the release of a film based around the singer's final concert rehearsals.
It is not yet known what will be included in the exhibition, which could visit three cities and stay up to six months in each.

Michael Jackson's Burial: Details On Forest Lawn Mausoleum
Design of MJ's final resting place was inspired by Italy's Campo Santo and is decorated with ornate artwork.

On Thursday evening (September 3), during a private ceremony for family and close friends, Michael Jackson was laid to rest at Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, California, inside an enormous structure called the Great Mausoleum.

The building's architectural design was inspired by the Campo Santo in Italy, an elaborate cemetery constructed in the 13th century and used as a burial ground for Italian elites for hundreds of years. The Great Mausoleum has been called the "New World's Westminster Abbey" by Time magazine, according to Forest Lawn's Web site.

Family & Friends Say Goodbye To MJ

The mausoleum contains a stained-glass reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci's "The Last Supper" and replicas of Michelangelo's most famous sculptures. The grounds also house what Forest Lawn calls two of the world's largest paintings — "The Crucifixion" and "The Resurrection" — as well as original bronze and marble statuary, rare coins and 13th-century stained glass.

The not-for-profit Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks and Mortuaries administers several sites in the Los Angeles area. In early July, less than two weeks after his passing, reports indicated Jackson was to be buried at the Forest Lawn location in Hollywood Hills, California, but that ceremony never took place.

The Great Mausoleum is normally open to tourists but has been closed since Wednesday because of Jackson's burial and will reportedly reopen on Friday. According to the Los Angeles Daily News, celebrities interred at Glendale include Clark Gable, Humphrey Bogart, Jimmy Stewart, Spencer Tracy, Sammy Davis Jr. and Walt Disney. It is not yet known what type of access tourists will have to Jackson's grave site.

At Thursday's ceremony, held adjacent to the Great Mausoleum, Jackson's five brothers — Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Randy Jackson — served as pallbearers, according to a statement released by family representatives. Jackson's three children placed a crown on the casket at the beginning at the service.

Pastor Lucius Smith, who also spoke at Jackson's memorial at the Staples Center in July, opened the service with a prayer and read from Ecclesiastes 3:7. Motown legend Gladys Knight sang the hymn "His Eye Is on the Sparrow," and songwriter Clifton Davis sang the Jackson 5 song "Never Can Say Goodbye." Among those who delivered eulogies were Jackson's father, Joe, and the Reverend Al Sharpton.

Following the service, Jackson's brothers carried the casket into the Great Mausoleum, where he was finally laid to rest.

Michael Jackson's Dad Wants Medical Records

Michael Jackson's father, Joe Jackson, has subpoenaed medical and other records from the UCLA Medical Center because he believes the records could reveal evidence of foul play in Jackson's death -- and the subpoena has outraged MJ estate lawyers ... TMZ has learned.

Joe's lawyer, Brian Oxman, sent 2 subpoenas to the UCLA Medical Center -- the hospital where Michael Jackson was pronounced dead on June 25. Oxman is asking for a number of documents, including medical records, autopsy reports, autopsy photos, medications and prognosis assessments.

Joe Jackson tells TMZ his entire family is behind the subpoenas -- Katherine, the brothers and sisters, along with him. He says they all believe the medical records will show what was in Jackson's body when he passed and they believe the information will expose foul play.

We've obtained a letter sent to Oxman by estate lawyer Howard Weitzman, in which Weitzman calls the subpoenas "clearly improper." Weitzman claims the subpoenas violate Jackson's right of privacy and the physician/patient privilege. Weitzman also says the subpoenas are irrelevant to Joe Jackson's only legal claim -- a financial allowance.

Michael Jackson Death Investigation Complete

The LAPD investigation into Michael Jackson's death has been completed and the case will go to the D.A. within weeks, law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... and, we're told, it's all but certain Dr. Conrad Murray will be criminally charged in MJ's death.

Our sources say detectives completed their investigation late last month and the case will be formally presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney as soon as scheduling allows. Turns out ... the presentation will draw quite the crowd. A number of members of the LAPD and the D.A.'s office will be present, and finding a date when everyone can show is a little tricky ... but we're told it will happen in a matter of weeks.

One very informed source says the LAPD investigation was "exhaustive" and "extremely thorough" and the D.A. has enough evidence to pull the trigger on a criminal case against Dr. Murray. That said, we're told the case is complicated, in part because Dr. Murray did not break any laws in administering Propofol to Jackson.

One law enforcement source connected with the case notes the D.A. has been actively working with the LAPD and it's all but certain the case will be filed. As for the charge -- a decision has not been made, but our sources say the likelihood is involuntary manslaughter, which requires a showing of gross negligence.

Conrad Murray Charged in Michael Jackson Death

Dr. Conrad Murray has just been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson.

According to the criminal complaint, the D.A. alleges Dr. Murray "did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson ... in the commission of an unlawful act, not a felony; and in the commission of a lawful act which might have produced death, in an unlawful manner, and without due caution and circumspection."

Dr. Murray will be arraigned today at 1:30 PM. As we first reported, he will plead not guilty.

Dr. Murray is expected to show up at around 1:00 PM, accompanied by his lawyers and a bail bondsman. Bail should be set at $25,000.

Dr. Murray administered Propofol to Jackson just before he died, and the L.A. County Coroner's Office has determined Jackson died as a result of acute Propofol intoxication.

If convicted, Dr. Murray faces a maximum of four years in prison.

Dr. Conrad Murray to Judge -- I'm 'Not Guilty'

Michael Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, will plead not guilty Monday morning when he is arraigned on involuntary manslaughter charges ... sources tell TMZ.

We're told the plan is for Dr. Murray to arrive at the courthouse 20 - 30 minutes before the arraignment -- which sources tell us will be at 1:30 PM PT. He will surrender voluntarily.

Law enforcement sources tell us 20 L.A. County Sheriff's deputies will be at the courthouse, some of whom will be evident and some who will not. We're told the Sheriff's Department has had its security plan in place for a while, in part because of crowd control concerns and partly because of security issues surrounding Dr. Murray.

We're told there is a concern about Dr. Murray's safety because of intense feeling on the part of some Michael Jackson fans that Dr. Murray killed the singer.
As we first reported, Dr. Murray will be accompanied by a bail bondsman who will post bail -- expected to be $25,000.

Our sources say Dr. Murray will not waive his right to a preliminary hearing.
Following arraignment and booking, we're told Dr. Murray will leave L.A. and go either to Las Vegas or Houston.

Fans want justice for Michael Jackson as Dr. Conrad Murray appears in court

Fans of the late Michael Jackson flooded the outside steps of Los Angeles County Superior Court as Dr. Conrad Murray, who faces involuntary manslaughter charges in the pop singer's death, was set for a court hearing Monday morning.

The California attorney general's office is seeking to have Murray's medical license suspended. Murray is fighting that move, saying he needs to practice medicine to make ends meet.

In reports from the L.A. County coroner’s office, Jackson had high levels of the powerful sedative propofol in his system when he died last June.

Murray has pleaded not guilty and maintains he did nothing wrong. He told investigators that Jackson, 50, was a chronic insomniac who for years had depended on propofol -- a white liquid that the singer called "milk" -- to sleep, according to police affidavits filed in court.

Some members of Jackson's family are scheduled to appear in court Monday, including his father, Joe Jackson, and brother Jermaine Jackson. In a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired Friday, his sister Janet Jackson said she holds Murray responsible, and also spoke of numerous family interventions for the singer, who she said was in denial.

As a large group of fans shouted, sang and held signs -- one read "Conrad Murray makes us wanna scream" -- Michele Drake stood alone on the opposite side of the street. She held onto a banner that read, "All for l-o-v-e, justice for Michael."

"I'm not here for the attention, I'm here for Michael," said Drake, 45. "I came from South Carolina to be here. It's been a long day, but a good day."

Drake said she wanted to represent all the fans she communicates with on blogs and online forums who couldn't be present at Monday's hearing. She was disappointed at the crowd of fans who were yelling across the street because that's not what Jackson would stand for, she said.

Share your thoughts. It's been more than nine months since Jackson's death. We previously asked if his license should be revoked. Who do you think has a stronger case, Murray or the prosecution?

Conrad Murray got official word that L.A. County Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor will control his fate during his manslaughter case in the death of Michael Jackson.

Members of Jackson's family, including Joe, Katherine, Janet, Randy and Jermaine sat and watched as Judge Peter Espinoza told Dr. Murray to go downstairs to Judge Pastor's court.
TMZ first reported Judge Pastor -- a smart and tough man in black -- will preside over Murray's trial.

Murray is on his way downstairs right now ... and there's a big decision on the line ... whether Judge Pastor yanks Murray's medical license as a condition to bail.

We're in Judge Pastor's court ... so stay tuned.

Dr. Murray's Defense - Jackson Killed Himself

TMZ has learned Dr. Conrad Murray's legal defense is that Michael Jackson gave himself the fatal dose of Propofol.

Multiple sources familiar with the strategy tell TMZ the defense argument goes like this:

- At around 10:50 AM, Dr. Murray gave Jackson 25 mg of Propofol from a 20 ml bottle -- that's only about 1/8 of the bottle.

- The dose Dr. Murray administered would keep someone asleep for only 5 to 10 minutes, but the Propofol, along with the Ativan and Versed that was already in MJ's system, had a synergistic effect that put Jackson to sleep for a longer period of time.

- For the next hour, Dr. Murray stayed in the room and was on the phone for much of the time. Dr. Murray didn't leave the room to make the calls because MJ liked activity in the room, regularly sleeping with the lights on and cartoons blaring on the TV.

- At around noon, Dr. Murray left the room for approximately two minutes to go to the bathroom. While he was gone, the defense believes Jackson suddenly awakened and was frustrated he had spent nearly 9 hours trying in vain to sleep. The defense theory -- Jackson took the 20 ml bottle of Propofol and self-injected the remaining contents through the IV, causing a massive overdose that stopped his heart.

- Dr. Murray walked back in the room and saw Jackson with his eyes open and pupils dilated. Dr. Murray dropped the phone (he was speaking with his girlfriend) and began administering CPR.

The defense will argue Michael Jackson was a long-time Propofol addict -- something TMZ first reported shortly after the singer's death. As one source said, Jackson liked the sensation of Propofol being administered by IV, adding, "Michael liked to push it."

L.A. County Coroner's investigators took a picture in the room, showing an empty Propofol bottle on the floor, underneath the nightstand by Jackson's bed. The defense will argue Jackson grabbed the bottle from the nightstand, injected himself and then dropped the bottle.

Remember, law enforcement believes Dr. Murray hid bottles of Propofol before paramedics arrived. The defense will argue ... if Dr. Murray was really hiding Propofol, he would have removed the empty bottle under the nightstand that caused Jackson's death.

Dr. Murray Face to Face with MJ's Family in Court

About Michael Jackson's death 0405jacksonfamilycourts

There figures to be pandemonium down at the courthouse Monday morning --we're told Dr. Conrad Murray will be in the building and come face to face with some of Michael Jackson's relatives.

Our sources say the majority of Jackson's immediate family plan on being there. We're told family members, including Joe, are very upset with the information in TMZ's story Sunday -- that Dr. Murray's defense team will argue MJ killed himself by self-medicating with too much Propofol.

As for Jackson fans, a Facebook group has organized a protest outside and so far nearly 500 people are scheduled to show.

The hearing is set to begin at 1:30 PM PT/4:30 PM ET. We'll bring it all to you live. Stay tuned ...

Michael Jackson Bodyguard Fired

TMZ has learned the bodyguard who says Dr. Conrad Murray asked him to help hide Propofol in Michael Jackson's house the day he died was fired from his job Friday by the Jackson family.

Alvarez had been working at the Jackson family compound in Encino since the singer died last June.

Alberto Alvarez is the bodyguard who called 911 from Jackson's house. Last week it was reported that Alvarez told LAPD detectives ... that before paramedics arrived on scene Dr. Murray asked him to put bottles of Propofol in a bag.

Alvarez -- who is sometimes referred to as Jackson's "logistics director" -- did not tell detectives about the alleged cover-up the day Jackson died, but rather two months later. The story about the alleged cover-up broke last Monday.

As for why Alvarez was fired, the Jackson family isn't talking.

______________________________________________________________________
Murray Allegedly Stopped CPR to Hide Drugs

According to bodyguard Alberto Alvarez (right), Dr. Murray stopped CPR and handed Alvarez drug vials and told him to put the vials in a bag.

Alvarez told investigators when he went into the room he saw an IV attached to Jackson's leg. Also Jackson's mouth and eyes were wide open and there was no sign of life.

According to the AP, Michael Jackson's kids, Prince and Paris, entered the room and cried as they watched Dr. Murray administer mouth-to-mouth.

According to Alvarez, Dr. Murray took several vials and told Alvarez to put them in a plastic bag, then told Alvarez to put the plastic bag in a canvas bag. Alvarez also says Dr. Murray told him to remove the IV that contained a white milky substance (Propofol has this quality) in another canvas bag. Alvarez didn't say where the bags went.

The report says, after Jackson was pronounced dead at UCLA Medical Center, Murray said he needed to go back to the mansion to get cream Jackson had "so the world wouldn't find out about it." The statement did not get more specific.

As TMZ first reported, Alvarez -- who called 911 -- told cops several months after Jackson's death that Dr. Murray hid bottles of Propofol in a closet so family members and cops wouldn't find them.

Sources connected with Dr. Murray's defense say the doctor didn't hide anything.

Eyewitness: Dr. Conrad Murray Hid the Propofol

TMZ has learned the man who called 911 at Michael Jackson's house the day he died told police Dr. Conrad Murray hid bottles of Propofol from family members and authorities.

The witness -- bodyguard Alberto Alvarez -- told cops he saw Dr. Murray running around the room hiding Propofol bottles in a closet near the room where the doctor administered the drug to Jackson.

Authorities found bottles of the anesthetic in what looks like a secret compartment area of the closet.

A source close to Dr. Murray told TMZ Alvarez made the statement two months after Jackson's death ... in the office of his lawyer, Carl Douglas ... when Alvarez was questioned again by cops. Douglas, by the way, is also a lawyer for the Jackson family.

The source says Alvarez' statement contradicts what he told cops the day of Jackson's death. The source says Alvarez never told cops at the scene about hiding Propofol.

The source notes ... and we have confirmed ... Dr. Murray told cops two days after Jackson's death where the Propofol bottles could be found.

As we first reported, one of the bottles of Propofol in the closet was empty with a large tear in the rubber stopper. Law enforcement sources believe Dr. Murray may have connected the large bottle of Propofol directly into the IV and a massive amount of the drug, they believe entered Jackson's system and killed him.

UPDATE: We're also told Alvarez told cops during the interview in Douglas' office that he saw a milky white substance in an IV bag. As we first reported the IV bag in the room contained no traces of Propofol.

Med Board Investigators -- Conrad Murray Lied

Investigators for the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners have filed a formal complaint against Dr. Conrad Murray for allegedly lying ... but not in the Michael Jackson case ... according to documents obtained by TMZ.

According to the complaint, on June 13, 2007 and again on June 19, 2009, Dr. Murray applied for renewal of his medical license. One of the questions: "Are you out of compliance with court ordered child support?" In both cases Dr. Murray "answered in the negative" -- meaning he said he did not owe any child support.

According to the Medical Board investigators, in June, 2007 Dr. Murray owed $7,255.86 and in June, 2009 he owed $10,131.05.

Bottom line -- investigators say Dr. Murray lied.

You'll recall Dr. Murray was in legal hot water over back child support last year, but dodged a bullet when he became current.

The complaint makes no mention of Michael Jackson's death.

Investigators are asking the Medical Board to "determine what sanctions it determines to impose for the violations ... committed by Respondent."

Conrad Murray's Call Before Michael Jackson 911

Minutes before Dr. Conrad Murray realized Michael Jackson was in deep distress, he left a voicemail for a patient about his heart scan.

News of the World published the voicemail, in which Dr. Murray informed Bob Russell about his heart scan.

Dr. Murray left the voicemail at 11:54 AM.

TMZ broke the true timeline story -- that Dr. Murray called his girlfriend from Houston at 12:03 PM the day Jackson died -- 9 minutes after he left the voicemail for Russell.

Sources tell TMZ the girlfriend told cops ... approximately 5 minutes into the call, Dr. Murray abruptly dropped the phone and she then heard him administering CPR. Dr. Murray never came back to the phone and the call ended at 12:13 PM.

Jackson's bodyguard called 911 at 12:21 PM, approximately 13 minutes after Dr. Murray dropped the phone.

Michael Jackson - 'That's How He Peed'

It seems Michael Jackson's longtime doctor, Arnold Klein, was telling the truth about Michael's propensity to pee in bottles ... based on the L.A. County Coroner's autopsy report and a strange item found by the foot of the bed.

TMZ first published the autopsy findings yesterday. Among the items found in the bedroom where Dr. Conrad Murray was treating Michael Jackson -- "a closed bottle of urine atop a chair."

Back in November, we posted a story about Dr. Arnold Klein, who told us that Michael Jackson had a habit of peeing in cups and other objects, often in front of others.

Dr. Klein told TMZ today Jackson would pee in any object that was available and it all stemmed from necessity. "That's how he peed," Klein said.

Klein told us when Jackson was 5 years old and on stage, there were often no bathrooms in the immediate vicinity and as a result he would pee in bottles.

Dr. Klein again expressed disdain for Dr. Murray giving Michael Jackson intramuscular injections of Propofol for sleep, calling it "horribly wrong."

Michael Jackson autopsy'photos

SHOCKING pictures of Michael Jackson’s autopsy are in danger of ending up online, insiders fear.

The graphic images were taken in connection with the 50-year-old superstar’s autopsy after his drug-related death last June, and internet sites are desperate to publish them, according to American tabloid the National Enquirer.

“Some of the edgier internet sites run by foreign operators are attempting to secure the photos through unauthorized release — with talk that the pictures could be worth upward of $5 million!” a source said.

“There are genuine fears the pictures could be leaked or that computer hackers could get to them — and the LAPD and DA’s office are taking extreme preventive measures to keep them secure.”

Authorities even consulted the FBI about transferring the images to an encoded disk, said the source.

“The disk would require multiple verifications before the pictures could be downloaded and viewed,” blabbed the mole.

“But Michael’s distraught family knows that some foreign factions and Web sites will still try to get the pictures.

“Publishing these awful images would have a frightful and lasting impact on Michael’s children, and that’s why every effort is being made to safeguard the photos.”

Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale is opening up the gates to Michael Jackson's fans on the anniversary of The King of Pop's death.

Randy Jackson tells X17online exclusively:

"I just had a meeting with Forest Lawn and beginning on June 25, the anniversary of my brother's death, fans will be able to go right up to the mausoleum and drop off flowers and pay their respects. Michael loved his fans, and the family wants to make sure that the fans are able to celebrate his incredible life."
At the 1-year anniversary memorial on June 25, Randy tells X17online that his sister Janet and mom, Katherine will be there. Also attending ... Lisa Marie Presley who last month inspired a flower shop to deliver thousands of sunflowers to Forest Lawn in memory of Jackson.

X17online brought you the exclusive details about Lisa Marie Presley's initial visit to the mausoleum in which she carried in an empty portrait-sized frame filled with sunflowers ... spending over an hour getting the placement just right.

Various groups, like the Justice4MJ fan group consisting of thousands of members, had plans to gather at the mausoleum for the special 1-year anniversary. However, just last month Forest Lawn security had been informed that fans were no longer welcome. Thanks to Michael's youngest brother, that has all changed.

Randy adds, "We are so thankful to know that our brother's fans still love him as much as we do."batman75

Jacko's dad: 'I blame my wife for Michael's death'

By James Desborough, 13/06/2010

SEETHING Joe Jackson today sensationally reveals a secret bitter confrontation he had with his weeping wife only hours after their superstar son Michael died.

In a world exclusive interview just 12 days before the first anniversary of the singer's death, Joe tells for the first time how he BLAMED the King of Pop's mum Katherine for FAILING to save him from the prescription drugs that killed him.

death
The shattering accusation emerged when the couple came face-to-face as Michael lay on a mortuary table.

"Katherine was weeping uncontrollably and highly upset. But I didn't give her a hug because I was MAD at her crying," snaps Joe, 80, who says he had spent months urging her to get the singer into rehab for his prescription drugs addiction.

"I said, 'If you had listened to me Michael would be living now!' I kept thinking about the times I had stood in front of her saying something was wrong.

"I couldn't bottle up my feelings. Katherine didn't say a word - I had to get away from her. If she'd done what I asked, Michael would be here today. I am incensed with her. She could have made a difference."

Worrying

But Joe also confesses that HE too failed his son as he opens his heart over the year of anguish the Jackson family have faced since the tragedy.

He tells how Katherine, 80, is still deep in grief while Michael's children Prince, 13, Paris, 12, and eight-year-old Blanket are recovering well from the loss of their father.

And he reveals that Paris and Prince have MET their biological mum Debbie Rowe, 50, for the first time since Jacko's death.

For years Joe - former manager of the Jackson 5 - has been painted as the demonic father of Jacko, regularly beating the star during his childhood.

But he still vehemently denies the accusations - and looked shell-shocked as he relived the worrying months leading up to 50-year-old Jacko's fatal heart attack on June 25 last year - brought on by an overdose of sleeping drug Propofol and a cocktail of sleeping pills.

Joe says: "I only saw him a couple of times in his last few months - and he looked weak, thin and like he needed to get some sleep.

"He really never had that glow in his eyes, which he had on stage. I didn't know that he was addicted to drugs, but something was wrong.
"I booked him an appointment to see my doctor, but when I said 'Let's go' he made some story that he had his own doc and they said he was OK. "When I asked him what was up - he said he was fine, but if I pressed him, he'd walk out of the room or disappear. It was very frustrating."

Meanwhile Jacko was growing more and more paranoid. "He kept saying he was going to be killed, and was afraid he would be shot on stage," says Joe. "He always told us, 'They are after my music catalogue', but he never said who he meant."

Joe's worries for his son had only increased after Jackson agreed a £25 million comeback deal with concert promoters AEG in December 2008 for his comeback This Is It shows in London the following summer.

He kept saying he was going to be killed
When they increased the number of shows they wanted him to do from 15 to 50, Joe says his distressed son asked him to get his workload reduced because he feared exhaustion.

So Joe met AEG boss Randy Phillips to fight his corner at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

"Michael told me he had signed for just 15 shows, but was doing 50, and it was too much in one go," says Joe. "I warned Randy that Michael would be pushed to the edge. I got angry and started shouting, but Michael and his mother just sat in the corner laughing out loud.

"Just like Katherine, he couldn't cope with confrontations. Randy said he would look into these things, but nothing ever happened.

"After that I left the room, and I said goodbye to Michael. I told him I'd speak to him soon - but I never did. It was the last time I saw him.

"I wish I had made him walk away from those shows. I knew he would never make them, but I never thought he'd die." Just after midday on June 25 last year, Joe took a call at his Las Vegas home as he watched the TV news.

"It was a fan who told me Michael was being carried out of the house on a stretcher. Then it came on the news saying that he had a heart attack," says Joe.

"I knew I needed to get to LA. But on the way I found out by phone from La Toya he had passed in the car. I felt numb and unreal."

Devastated Joe headed to the Jackson family compound in Encino as other members said their final goodbyes to the King Of Pop in the emergency room of the UCLA hospital in Westwood. "I didn't want to see Michael laid out on the slab like that - that was not how I would want to remember him," he says.

"I didn't shed any tears, but maybe I should have. I just felt furious that my son was gone."

And he focused that fury on Katherine. "In Michael's final months alive I said to her many times that I couldn't get through to him - and that she needed to help her son," storms Joe.
"I had begged her to go over and stay with him, but she insisted he needed his privacy and gave him the slack she thought he needed. A child will listen to his mother more than his father - and Michael was a mummy's boy. He listened to her.

"I still haven't been able to talk about it to her as she doesn't want to hear what I have to say."

Joe says Katherine has not recovered from her son's death.

"She is a shell of the woman she was. She has headaches, can't sleep and won't deal with these problems - like Michael she would rather run away."

But Michael's children are going from strength to strength. "They adored their daddy - but they have recovered well. The first few months were hard, but now they are enjoying their life in Encino," says Joe. "Michael made sure they had a strict upbringing, and made sure they studied hard and were only allowed to watch TV at weekends.

"He was a great, but strict father. Now those kids are the smartest and Michael's trained them to be aware of the world and its perils."

The children adored their daddy, but they've recovered well
He adds: "We have given them more freedom and they seem to love it. They now have TVs and computers. Paris is the leader of them. She is growing up fast and has to be watched closely.

"I am pretty sure she can be anything she wants to be. Like all the Jacksons she has that showbiz gene.

"Prince is quieter, but every time I see him he has a different musical instrument in his hand. Blanket is the most like his dad.

"When I look at him he reminds me of what my son was like at that age. Just like Michael he can dance good too. It's possible they'll go into showbusiness. It would make Michael proud."
Proud

He reveals that Paris and Prince met their biological mum Debbie Rowe, 50, earlier this year for the first time since Jacko's death.

"Debbie came over with some presents and talked with the kids. They knew that she was their mother, but didn't make a big fuss," he says.

"It was all done in about ten minutes, but it was a good meeting. Whatever has been said, nobody has stopped Debbie from seeing the children. Katherine and she have a good relationship."

Now Joe is busy battling for justice for his son whose doctor Conrad Murray, 56, was charged with manslaughter last February.

He has already filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Houston- based doctor Jackson handpicked for his tour medical duties.

And he is taking legal action against concert firm AEG as well as challenging lawyers over Jackson's 2002 will which gave Katherine 40 per cent of Michael's estate.

"She still hasn't seen a dime. Michael looked after Katherine throughout her life - he would be disgusted by this," says Joe.

He claims he also blames himself for Michael's death. "I tried to help Michael, but I feel I could have been more aggressive in getting access to him," he says.

"Only once did I shed a tear for him and that was in the Bahamas collecting an award for him. When his songs came on I just choked up and tears ran down my face. I was surprised by that.

"I feel more anger that he is dead. He won't rest in peace until I find out what really happened."

Joe remains unaffected by the public's perception of him as an unemotional, callous tyrant.

Unhappy Michael fired him as his manager, admitting he made him faint with fear and never felt any love.

But Joe says: "I don't know why Michael said those things. If I wasn't strict Michael may have ended up in street gangs as a kid. I put an awful lot of work into getting him developed for show business.

"He knew I loved him. I regret that I didn't say goodbye properly. I want his legacy to live forever."

EXCLUSIVE: Michael Jackson Murdered For Music Catalogue, Claims Former Advisor

print it send it

WENN
Michael Jackson was murdered for the one billion dollar music catalogue he owned, claims his former advisor Leonard Rowe.

In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, the King of Pop’s longtime friend and sometime financial advisor made the explosive claim, recalling that Jackson once told him: “They want my catalogue Rowe -- and they will kill me for it.”

EXCLUSIVE: Strangest Photo Ever Of Michael Jackson

Rowe did not name who he is suggesting “murdered” Jackson, who had lethal doses of the powerful anesthetic Propofol in his body when he died.

While Jackson died with cash flow problems after blowing the profits from sales of $750 million records on extravagances, the superstar made one brilliant financial move.

PHOTOS: Inside Michael Jackson's Mansion

In 1985, Jackson paid $47.5 million to buy the publishing catalog.

Ten years later, Sony paid Jackson $150 million for half the rights, forming a joint venture called Sony/ATV.

Today, Jackson’s half is valued at a minimum of $1 billion.

WORLD EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Shocking Violence Inside Jackson Home

“Michael always felt he would be killed for his catalogue,” Rowe, a close confidante of family patriarch Joe Jackson, told RadarOnline.com.

“When he was speaking about it, I paid him no attention but as the latest events have unfolded, I couldn’t help but think about his statement -- and it still haunts me today.” Rowe told RadarOnline.com.

Jackson died on June 25, 2009, on the eve of a sold-out 50-concert schedule in London that would have done much more than launch a musical comeback tour.

The London shows promised to net Jackson at least $50 million and chip away at nearly half a billion dollars in personal debt.

The one piece of collateral the musician died with was the 50 percent interest in the music publishing catalogue.

Said Rowe, “Michael’s catalogue was very valuable... and people wanted that catalogue.

“It is one thing that Michael told me, personally, that he would never sell it.

“Michael said he wanted to keep it for his children, no matter what type of financial situation he across, he would always hold onto his catalogue.

“People wanted that catalogue, but he would not relinquish it, at all.”

Following Jackson's death, the administrators of his estate signed a $250 million deal giving Sony full access to the singer's back catalog and previously unreleased material.

The estate still has its share in the catalogue.

Rowe had harsh words for a money-motivated clique of concert promoters who signed the star to a grueling commitment of 50 concerts.

Rowe said Jackson would not have been able to complete the 50 shows scheduled for the pop icon's This Is It tour.

He said Jackson was forced into booking more performances than he was capable of.

“AEG had a contract with Michael that was nothing less than a cocked financial gun pointed to his head,” said Rowe.

“It is my belief that he was being totally exploited.

“I think they knew Michael’s condition, they knew Michael had an addiction, they knew his financial situation was deplorable and they used that against him; they trapped him... they must have known what they were doing.”

Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson’s personal physician, has pleaded not guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter.

Murray is accused of giving Jackson a fatal dose of an anesthetic to help him sleep. Jackson died June 25.

If convicted, the doctor could face up to four years in prison.

Rowe, no relation to Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe, is releasing a tell-all book titled What Really Happened To Michael Jackson, to coincide with the one-year anniversary of Jackson’s death.

The book is billed as a revelatory expose about “corruption, conspiracy and greed behind the singer’s shock death.

“The powers that be have been trying to keep me quiet by committing slander against me... I must confess, I am not one to be intimidated easily or one who will back down quickly,” Rowe told RadarOnline.com.

"Michael can’t speak now, but I can -- and I will.

"I believe the powers that be knew that Michael and The Michael Jackson name was worth billions and billions of dollars and he was worth more to them dead than alive.

“What I hope is that everyone who is responsible for Michael Jackson’s death is brought to justice and fully prosecuted in a court of law.”

Katherine Jackson's Lawyer Goes After Joe Jackson

Joe Jackson's cruel attack -- that his wife, Katherine, is responsible for Michael's death, is but the latest in a rich history of reckless, untrue comments ... so says Katherine's lawyer and the lawyer for Michael Jackson's estate.

Katherine is not commenting on what amounts to her husband's declaration of war -- that she refused to "keep [Michael] cheered up" because she didn't want to invade his privacy, and he'd be alive today if she had.

Katherine's lawyer, Adam Streisand, tells TMZ, "The world knows that Mrs. Jackson has always been a loving mother and grandmother, and that she and Michael had a very special relationship." Streisand then drives it home: "The world also knows who Joe Jackson is and he seems bent on never letting us forget."

Streisand then drives it home: "The world also knows who Joe Jackson is and he seems bent on never letting us forget."

Howard Weitzman, lawyer for the Michael Jackson estate, tells TMZ, "The inference by Joe Jackson that Mrs. Jackson was in any way responsible for Michael's death is preposterous. Katherine Jackson was a supportive and loving mother throughout Michael's life. His love and respect for her is reflected in his estate plan." Ouch ... and true.

Now here's how Joe may have screwed himself. He's not included in Michael's will and no matter how hard he tries to invalidate the will, he's going to end up with nothing in that department. The chances of Joe getting a court-approved allowance from the estate are slim to none. And Joe is trying to exploit Michael's name to make money, but his unauthorized attempts have pretty much been shut down by the estate.

So the only thing Joe has been able to rely on ... Katherine's generosity in the money department. Looks like that gravy train may have finally left the station.

Arnie Klein -- Joe Jackson's a Hypocrite!

Dr. Arnold Klein -- the man who was probably closest to Michael Jackson -- came out swinging against Joe Jackson, claiming the elder Jackson could have tried talking Michael off a ledge, but all he cared about was making money.

Dr. Klein tells TMZ, "Michael was very close to Katherine, but Joe talked to him too, but all Joe ever wanted to talk about was business. Everything Joe utters is nonsensical."

Joe is taking lots of flack for telling News of the World Katherine is responsible for Michael's death by not trying to cheer him up.

But Klein says he's over the drama: "I'm no longer interested in the Sodom and Gomorrah show on Havenhurst (the family home). My main concern is the welfare of the children, especially Michael's, and the preservation of Michael's memory."

Father of Michael Jackson accuses AEG of singer's death

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- When the Los Angeles County Coroner ruled Michael Jackson's death a homicide, as a result of "acute propofol intoxication" with other sedatives, the coroner's office also cited a lack of recommended equipment for patient monitoring, precision dosing and resuscitation equipment that may have contributed.
Six months later, Dr. Conrad Murray, who administered Propofol to Jackson, was charged with involuntary manslaughter.
But in a recent complaint filed with the Medical Board of California, Jackson's father, Joe Jackson accuses concert promoter AEG Live of neglecting to provide the recommended equipment and a nurse who was supposed to assist Dr. Murray. Those measures could have prevented the singer's death or revived Jackson when he stopped breathing, according to the complaint.
The California Medical Board is responsible for investigating complaints against physicians.
According to a copy of the 169-page complaint, obtained by CNN and verified by Joe Jackson's attorney, Brian Oxman, AEG, over a six week period, allegedly engaged in "unlawful practice of corporate medicine," by hiring, directing, controlling and demanding that Murray medicate Michael Jackson as he prepared for his "This is it" tour in London.
AEG spokesman Michael Roth declined to comment on the complaint, telling CNN that his legal department has not viewed the documents. Joe Jackson was unavailable, according to attorney Oxman.
Murray's civil attorney, Charles Peckham, declined to comment about the specific allegations against AEG after the complaint was filed.
According to the complaint, AEG Live executives were so concerned over Michael Jackson's alleged failure to show up for rehearsals, that AEG representatives demanded that Murray step in and "wean" Jackson off his alleged dependence on medications provided by other doctors which caused chronic fatigue and disorientation. The complaint states that AEG made an "oral agreement" with Murray on May 8, 2009 based on a drafted contract agreement, promising to provide Murray with equipment, supplies and personnel. The complaint states that Murray immediately accepted AEG's offer for a monthly physician's fee of $150,000.
According to the complaint, Murray made his first order of Propofol on May 12, 2009, and stated in a purported e-mail to AEG that he had begun treating the singer as part of their "oral agreement."
On May 28, Murray allegedly grew impatient because he had not been paid by mid-month as promised by AEG, according to the complaint. Before treating Jackson, Murray, a full time cardiologist, had been mired in such heavy debt, that AEG exploited his hardship as a tactic to exert control over his medical decisions, the complaint alleges. More than two weeks after Murray began treating the singer, AEG had not provided Murray with CPR equipment as he requested and never instructed Murray to cease treating Jackson, the complaint states.
In an interview with CNN's Don Lemon, before the complaint was filed, AEG Live Executive Randy Phillips said Dr. Murray was never officially employed by AEG because the contract was never signed. Phillips said the decision to hire Dr. Murray was solely Jacksons and that he demanded it.
"He (Michael) said, 'You don't understand, my body is what fuels this entire venture and like Barack Obama, I need my own physician with me twenty-four-seven. That's not negotiable," Phillips told CNN's Don Lemon. "And he was so strong about it that I just backed off and said, 'This is a battle I can't win," said Phillips.
By June 18, according to the complaint, Jackson had attended only a few rehearsals, prompting AEG Live's Phillips and "This is It" director Kenny Ortega to demand a face to face meeting with him at Jackson's Holmby Hills estate. Phillips and Ortega insisted that Jackson show up for rehearsals or AEG would "pull the plug" on Jackson's rented house and terminate the services of Murray if he missed another rehearsal, the complaint alleges.
On that same evening, Murray allegedly gave Jackson Valium, Ativan, Versed, and Propofol in order to induce sleep, similar to the medications he allegedly administered over the previous five weeks, the complaint alleges. Murray continued this practice without CPR or nursing assistance which AEG had promised, according to the complaint. Jackson rehearsed on June 19, 23 and 24, according to attorney Oxman. Most of the documentary "This is it" was filmed on those dates, according to AEG Live executive Randy Phillips.
On June 24, AEG sent Murray a revised contract agreement, which mirrored the original May 8, 2009, oral agreement, except it required Jackson's signature, the complaint alleges. Murray signed the agreement and faxed it to AEG although the complaint alleges that AEG knew of the inherent dangers of the treatments Murray was administering and "recklessly" withheld life saving equipment that AEG knew was essential to protect Michael Jackson's life.
"Had AEG not violated California law and fulfilled its promise to provide Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation equipment and a nurse, Michael Jackson would not have died on June 25th," the complaint alleges.
The complaint is supported by 16 exhibits including a purported cost estimate of Murray's medical services and a copy of the purported contract between AEG and Murray.
The cost of medical equipment and other supplies requested by Murray purportedly totaled $8,000 per month. A nurse was estimated to cost $7,000 per month, according to the complaint. The cost of Murray's rental property in London is said to have totaled $8,000 per month, the complaint stated. Murray, who pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges, told LAPD investigators that he was never paid for his treatment of Jackson.
A representative at the California Medical Board confirmed to CNN the filing of Jackson's complaint but declined further comment.

MJ Tomb -- Defaced with Hidden Messages
7/13/2010 12:15 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

TMZ has learned Michael Jackson's tomb has been defaced by a stealth band of vandals -- who have marked the walls of MJ's mausoleum with hidden messages ... and it's all in permanent ink.

Security at Forest Lawn in Glendale, CA is on the lookout for "fans" who have been writing messages in hard-to-spot places outside the main window of the building in which MJ is entombed.

The writing is mostly hidden underneath ledges -- or in spots covered by bushes -- and contains messages like, "Miss you" and "Keep the dream alive."

Reps at Forest Lawn are pretty ticked off -- telling TMZ, "Activity such as this, is a prime example why we are evaluating the level of access to the various entrances of the Great Mausoleum."

Forest Lawn also tells us that anyone caught vandalizing the cemetery will be banned for life.

Doctor charged in Michael Jackson's death returns to court

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- When Dr. Conrad Murray returns to a Los Angeles court Monday afternoon, he is likely to be hounded by dozens of Michael Jackson fans angry about the pop star's death.
Monday's hearing is expected to be quick. It will set a date for the preliminary hearing in the involuntary manslaughter case against Murray, his lawyer said.
The judge has indicated the preliminary hearing will be in October and is expected to last more than a week.
The Los Angeles County coroner ruled that Jackson's death on June 25, 2009, was from an overdose of propofol, a powerful anesthesia used to put surgical patients to sleep.

Murray, hired as Jackson's personal doctor while the singer rehearsed for his comeback concerts, admits giving him propofol as a sleep aid. But Murray's lawyer said the amount was much smaller than what was found in Jackson's body during the autopsy.
"The fact [of the way] that he died was a mystery a year ago, and still is," Houston attorney Ed Chernoff told CNN in an exclusive interview recently.
Members of Jackson's family have attended each hearing since Murray's arrest in February.
When brother Jermaine Jackson left the last hearing in June, he indicated some of them were not satisfied with the case against Murray.
"Dr. Murray's the fall guy," Jermaine Jackson said after the hearing. "This is bulls**t."
California authorities announced last month that seven other doctors and a nurse who treated Jackson will not face criminal prosecution in connection with the singer's death.
Judge Michael Pastor denied a request by the state medical board to order Murray to stop practicing medicine as a condition of his bond while he awaits trial. His lawyer said he has no California patients, although he continues to treat patients in Nevada and Texas.
Jackson fans have organized protests at each hearing, taunting Dr. Murray as he entered and departed the courthouse.
One fan website said they would follow Murray "into the streets" after Monday's hearing with banners on an overpass of the Hollywood Freeway.

EXCLUSIVE: Dr. Conrad Murray Won't Face Justice Until January 2011

Dr. Conrad Murray is back before a Los Angeles judge on Monday, but he won't be facing the gavel of justice for another five months, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

A source tell us Murray's preliminary hearing won't happen until January of next year.

"The preliminary hearing will last anywhere from 2-4 weeks," a source close to the case tell us.

Both camps will push the judge to sign off on the January date for the closely watched celebrity trial at Monday's hearing at 12:30pm PST.

Dr. Murray, the pop singer's personal physician, has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of involuntary manslaughter.

The purpose of a preliminary hearing is for the judge to decide if there is enough evidence to send the case to trial, or if not, to dismiss it.

After an eight-month investigation, Los Angeles prosecutors charged the Houston-based cardiologist with allegedly administering a lethal cocktail of painkillers and anesthetics to Jackson in the hours before he died on June 25, last year.

Involuntary manslaughter carries the shortest sentence of any homicide charge in California.

If convicted, Murray faces up to four years in prison.

While Dr. Murray was recently photographed in Miami with his infant son and girlfriend while on vacation, sources tell RadarOnline.com he is grieving the unexpected death of one of his employees' children.

"Dr. Murray is having a very tough time because of the death," a source said. "Dr. Murray regards his employees as family."
