PRISCILLA PRESLEY
CHALLENGES LISA MARIE'S TRUST ...
Claims Amendment May Be Fraudulent
Things have gotten almost immediately contentious in the wake of Lisa Marie Presley's death. Turns out there's apparent beef between Lisa's mom and her oldest daughter.

Priscilla Presley has filed legal docs, asking a judge to set aside an amendment to Lisa's 2010 trust, and money is on the line. Priscilla was named trustee, along with Lisa's former business manager, Barry Siegel, to run things.

Priscilla says she discovered what appears to be an amendment to the trust, eliminating both her and Siegel as trustees and appointing Riley and Benjamin Keough as trustees.

According to legal docs, obtained by TMZ, Priscilla is questioning the validity and authenticity of the amendment, claiming it was never delivered to Priscilla, the date on the document is suspicious, the document misspells Priscilla's name, and Lisa Marie's signature "appears inconsistent with her usual and customary signature."

As you know, Benjamin died by suicide in 2020, and Lisa broke ties with Siegel after claiming he gutted her assets. Since Benjamin has passed, the amendment would leave Riley as the sole trustee.

Priscilla wants the amendment declared invalid. This squarely puts Priscilla at odds with her granddaughter.

Priscilla Presley files to control Lisa Marie Presley's estate despite Riley Keough being named trustee
Taryn Ryder

Fri, January 27, 2023 at 5:34 PM AST·

Priscilla Presley believes she should be in charge of daughter Lisa Marie Presley's estate — but a legal document filed seven years ago suggests that wasn't what the singer-songwriter wanted should she die. It's the latest twist in Lisa Marie's complicated financial history.

Lisa Marie, the only child of Elvis Presley, passed away on Jan. 12 after suffering cardiac arrest.

On Thursday, Priscilla, 77, filed paperwork challenging the authenticity of a 2016 amendment seemingly made by Lisa Marie that removed her as trustee. In the purported amendment, Lisa Marie named her adult children, daughter Riley Keough and son Benjamin Keough, as successor co-trustees and removed Priscilla and her former business manager, Barry Siegel, whom she appointed in 2010. Benjamin died in 2020, so, per the amendment, Riley would be the sole trustee.

In the document obtained by Yahoo Entertainment, Priscilla asked a judge to determine the validity of the trust provision. The matriarch claims Lisa Marie's signature on the 2016 document "appears inconsistent with her usual and customary signature." The amendment was apparently never notarized and Priscilla alleges the document was never delivered to her as required by the terms of the 2010 arrangement. The matriarch says the date on the 2016 amendment is suspicious. It also apparently misspells Priscilla's name. Priscilla wants the court to restate the 2010 trust.

Priscilla believes Siegel "has already or will soon resign as a co-trustee of the Trust."

"Accordingly, in such event, Riley would become a co-trustee with [Priscilla] with respect to the trust and all trust created thereunder. Notwithstanding the foregoing, since Riley is over the age of 30, she may act as a co-trustee of her subtrust upon delivering a written instrument signed by her consenting to act in such capacity," the document reads.

It's unclear what Riley wants, though. Yahoo reached out to reps for Riley and Priscilla, but did not immediately receive responses.

One thing is for sure: There is no way Lisa Marie would have Siegel anywhere near her money and assets. In 2018, Lisa Marie sued the businessman and accused him of negligence and mismanaging her finances. According to documents that emerged as part of the $100 million lawsuit, Lisa Marie claimed she only had $14,000 in cash by 2016.

Lisa Marie claimed Siegel caused her "financial ruin," according to the lawsuit obtained by CBS News, and that she was "damaged in an amount that has not yet been fully ascertained, but is believed to be in excess of $100 million." At one point, Lisa Marie alleged she was $16 million in debt.

Siegel countersued Lisa Marie and sought $800,000 in unpaid bills. He claimed she spent all her money from her father's inheritance on her her lavish lifestyle.

It has not been made public what happened with the dueling lawsuits. To further complicate financial matters, Lisa Marie was in a contentious legal battle with ex-husband Michael Lockwood, with whom she shares 14-year-old twins Finley and Harper. They fought over money and custody. Whoever takes control of Lisa Marie's estate likely has a lot of issues to sort through.

Priscilla Presley contests Lisa Marie Presley’s will, claims ‘invalid’ signature
By Emily Selleck

January 29, 2023 | 9:54am

Priscilla Presley has contested “the authenticity and validity” of Lisa Marie Presley’s will.
The businesswoman filed documents in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday, challenging a “purported 2016 amendment” to the will, which ousted her as a trustee.

According to the documents obtained by Page Six, Priscilla, 77, asked a judge to determine the validity of the amendment, which named Lisa Marie’s eldest daughter, Riley Keough, and her late son, Benjamin Keough, as successor co-trustees.

The amendment allegedly removed Lisa Marie’s former business manager, Barry Siegel, along with Priscilla from the trust, leaving Riley the sole trustee after her brother died by suicide in 2020.

In the court filing, Priscilla claims she and Siegel were first named co-trustees on Jan. 29, 1993, when Lisa Marie “executed a revocable living trust, which she amended and completely restated on Jan. 27, 2010.”

However, when her daughter died on Jan. 12 after going into cardiac arrest, she claims she found a new amendment, which was dated March 11, 2016.

usual and customary signature,” further arguing that Lisa Marie’s name had even been spelled wrong.

She also claimed that the document was never notarized, and had not been delivered to her during Lisa Marie’s lifetime, as laid out in the terms of the 2010 trust arrangement.

Priscilla – who is the former wife of the late Elvis Presley – went on to note that she believes Siegel “has already or will soon resign as a co-trustee of the Trust.”

“Accordingly, in such event, Riley would become a co-trustee with [Priscilla] with respect to the trust and all trust created thereunder,” the document reads.

“Notwithstanding the foregoing, since Riley is over the age of 30, she may act as a co-trustee of her subtrust upon delivering a written instrument signed by her consenting to act in such capacity.”

Lisa Marie’s financial troubles have been well documented through the years, notably her 2018 lawsuit against Siegel, which accused him of negligence and mishandling her sizable inheritance from Elvis.

According to documents filed at the time, Lisa Marie claimed her ex business manager left her in “financial ruin,” with just $14,000 in cash by 2016. Siegel countersued Lisa Marie for $800,000 in unpaid bills.

Page Six has reached out to reps for Priscilla, but did not immediately hear back.

Priscilla’s latest filing comes less than one week after Lisa Marie was laid to rest at Graceland following a star-studded memorial service.

“Thank you all for your condolences, you have touched me with your words,” Priscilla tweeted earlier this week.

“It has been a very difficult time but just knowing your love is out there makes a difference.”

Priscilla Presley [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] is a “money grab,” a friend of the late singer-songwriter tells Page Six exclusively.
“It’s strictly a money grab,” our source claims. “She had no relationship with Priscilla, [her ex-husband] Michael Lockwood or her half-brother [Navarone Garibaldi].”

A second source tells us that Lockwood was not mentioned during the Jan. 22 service at all — but another one of [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], Danny Keough, was.

Priscilla, Lockwood and Garibaldi are being represented by the same publicist, Caroline Galloway, in the bid to toss the will in question.
Galloway and an attorney for Priscilla didn’t immediately return Page Six’s requests for comment.

As Page Six reported this weekend, Priscilla filed documents in Los Angeles Superior Court challenging a “purported 2016 amendment” to her daughter’s will that ousted her as a trustee.
Priscilla, 77, asked a judge to determine the validity of the amendment, which named Lisa Marie’s eldest daughter, Riley Keough, and [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], as beneficiaries of the trust.

She also claimed the document was neither notarized nor had been delivered to her while Lisa Marie was alive, as laid out in the terms of the 2010 trust arrangement.

Lisa Marie was said to have blown through her $100 million fortune left to her by her late father, Elvis Presley. In 2018, she [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], Barry Siegel, for negligence and mishandling her inheritance.

Friend Says Lisa Marie Presley Wanted Trust to Go to Kids as Mom Priscilla Presley Contests Will

Lisa Marie Presley left her trust to her children, as she "did not have a relationship" with mom Priscilla Presley, a friend close to the star tells PEOPLE
By Rachel DeSantis and Brianne Tracy  Published on January 30, 2023 08:05 PM

Weeks after the death of Lisa Marie Presley, a contentious battle over the star's will has emerged.

When Lisa Marie, the only child of rock legend Elvis Presley, died on Jan. 12 at age 54, she left her trust — which includes Elvis' Graceland property and 15 percent ownership of Elvis' estate— to her three daughters.

But on Thursday, attorneys for Lisa Marie's mother Priscilla Presley filed a petition in Los Angeles questioning the "authenticity and validity" of Lisa Marie's will, claiming that a 2016 amendment that put the trust in the hands of actress Riley Keough, 33, and twins Harper and Finley Lockwood, 14, is invalid.

"Lisa's intent was very clear," a friend close to the late star tells PEOPLE of her desire for her children to inherit her trust. "Lisa really didn't feel that Priscilla was doing anything in her best interest."

According to the petition, which was obtained by PEOPLE, Lisa Marie wrote a living will in 1993 and amended it in 2010, making Priscilla, 77, a co-trustee alongside her former business manager Barry Siegel.

But after Lisa Marie's death, Priscilla discovered an amendment that had been added in 2016, and which booted both her and Siegel as co-trustees and replaced them with Riley, her brother, Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in 2020, and her twin sisters. A rep for Riley could not by reached by PEOPLE.

The petition alleges "many issues surrounding the authenticity and validity" of the amendment, including the fact that it was never given to Priscilla while Lisa Marie was alive "as required by the express terms of the Trust," that Lisa Marie's signature was "inconsistent" with her usual signature, and that there was no witness or notarization.

Priscilla is claiming that the 2010 amendment is still "the authoritative and controlling document," and is requesting the court order the 2016 amendment invalid. A rep for Priscilla had no comment when reached by PEOPLE.

The friend tells PEOPLE that Priscilla's attempts to regain control directly contradict Lisa Marie's wishes — and notes that by the time Lisa Marie made the 2016 amendment, she "did not have a relationship" with her mother.

Among the points of contention between the mother-daughter pair was the fact that Priscilla and Michael Lockwood — who share the same publicist — continued to have a relationship even after he and Lisa Marie divorced in 2016.

Though Lockwood was not invited to Lisa Marie's funeral, he attended with Priscilla's help, according to the pal.

"Lisa lived her life authentically… She wouldn't remain quiet when she was being taken advantage of," the friend says. "At the end of the day, these are her wishes, and there's no question as to what her wishes were. No one's going to be able to reinvent the last seven or eight years and say no, no, no."

Lisa Marie "had a major issue" with the ways in which her trust was being handled, according to the friend, and even sued Siegel in 2018, claiming he spent a decade whittling down the $100 million trust she'd inherited after Elvis' death in 1977 to just $14,000 "through his reckless and negligent mismanagement and self-serving ambition." Siegel, meanwhile, accused Lisa Marie of "squandering" the fortune with her "excessive spending" habits.

"There's substantial documentation that basically Lisa was the only trustee," the friend says. "Priscilla did not participate in anything, as [Siegel also] hadn't for years before… At the end of the day, a trustee is supposed to have limited power — they're supposed to not be able to do anything bad or stupid. No one can argue that Riley being the trustee is going to not be to the benefit of the twins."

Lisa Marie became a joint heir to Elvis' estate alongside grandfather Vernon Presley and great-grandmother Minnie Mae Hood Presley following his death in 1977. Upon their deaths in 1979 and 1980, respectively, she became the sole heir and also inherited Graceland.

The star was honored at Graceland on Jan. 22 with a memorial that featured remarks from Priscilla, Riley (as read by her husband) and more, plus performances from Axl Rose, Alanis Morissette and Billy Corgan.

Priscilla Presley contests validity of Lisa Marie's will

Priscilla Presley, rock'n'roll legend Elvis Presley's ex-wife, has filed a legal challenge to the validity of their late daughter's will.

Lisa Marie Presley, the couple's only child, died two weeks ago at the age of 54 after a cardiac arrest.

The court petition disputes a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie's will that ousted Priscilla as the estate trustee.

The document misspelled her mother's name and had a signature that appeared unusual, Ms Presley's lawyers argue.

In a filing to the Los Angeles Superior Court, lawyers for the 77-year-old said that she only became aware of the "purported 2016 amendment" after Lisa Marie's death.

Replacing her as trustee would mean she was no longer overseeing her daughter's assets.

It is not clear how much that estate is worth but various lawsuits in recent years suggest Lisa Marie's finances were in turmoil, according to the BBC's US partner, CBS News.

The amendment to her will that is now in question removes her mother and her former business manager, Barry Siegel, as co-trustees and replaces them with two of her children Riley, 33, and Benjamin Keough.

Benjamin Keough died in 2020 at the age of 27. Riley Keough is an actress with credits including 2020 film The Devil All the Time and the Amazon series The Terminal List.

According to the legal challenge, Ms Presley argues that the amendment was never delivered to her during her daughter's lifetime, as specifically required by the will.

The amendment to Lisa Marie's will also "misspells her mother's name" and bears a signature by Lisa Marie that "appears inconsistent with her usual and customary signature", says the court filing seen by the BBC.

Her lawyers also argue that the amendment was neither witnessed nor notarised.

"Based on the foregoing, the Purported 2016 Amendment should be deemed invalid and the Trust, as amended and completely restated in 2010 is the controlling and authoritative document and its terms administered," the petition reads.

The legal action comes less than a week after the surviving family of Lisa Marie Presley attended a public memorial service for her at the family's Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee.

At the service, Priscilla read a poem that she said was written by one of Lisa Marie's three daughters. All three of them, including Riley, were present for the service.

Lisa Marie's cause of death has not yet been revealed by the Los Angeles County coroner.

Lisa Marie Presley Was In Debt Before Death, Planned To Cash In $25M Insurance Policy To Cover It
Home - News

The Only Daughter Of Elvis Presley Reportedly Had A Total Of $35 Million In Life Insurance, Which Will Now Be Equally Distributed To Her Three Surviving Children After Her $4 Million Debts Are Cleared.

AceShowbiz - Lisa Marie Presley might have inherited a lifelong legacy from her father Elvis Presley, but she left behind a huge debt when she died. The 54-year-old was reportedly millions of dollars in debt at the end of her life.

According to TMZ, the singer owed a total of $4 million, including $2.5 million that she owed to the IRS. Of how she ended up in debt, sources say she blew through $100 million during her adult years.

Thankfully, Lisa Marie's children do not have to pay for her debts. She reportedly had taken out two life insurance policies, one for $25 million and another for $10 million. Sources say there may be a third $10 million policy, but it's unclear if it's lapsed.

Before her sudden passing, Lisa Marie allegedly was trying to cash in the $25 million policy to pay some of the debts she owed. She had notified the insurance company and filed out the paperwork to get a lump sum of just $2 million. However, there was a screw-up in the paperwork, so the policy was never cashed in.

Now, the $35 million insurance policies will be used to cover her debts. When the debts are cleared, there will be around $30 million that will be distributed equally to her three surviving children, Riley Keough and 14-year-old twins, Finley and Harper Lockwood, who were named beneficiaries. Since Finley and Harper are minors, the money will go into a trust which their mother created in 2010.

Lisa Marie had named her mother Priscilla Presley and her former business manager Barry Siegel as trustees in 2010, but she cut them out in a 2016 amendment, replacing her with her daughter Riley and her now-late son Benjamin Keough. Priscilla has filed documents questioning the "authenticity and validity" of her daughter's will, suggesting that the amendment is fraudulent.

Elvis Enterprises' Joel Weinshanker on Lisa Marie Presley's Wishes for Graceland: It 'Was Always Riley'

Last month, Lisa Marie's mom Priscilla Presley filed a petition contesting the singer-songwriter's will, which left her trust to her three daughters

Before [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] died last month, she had planned who she would leave her trust to: her children.

On what would've been [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] on Wednesday, Joel Weinshanker, managing partner at Elvis Presley Enterprises, made an appearance on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to celebrate her life and set the record straight on what she always wanted for the future of Graceland.

"Everyone knew that when Elvis passed away, he left everything to his little girl. He did so knowing that she would be the one to keep his legacy going," Weinshanker said.

"We got along so well because we were both trying to do what was best for Elvis, regardless of what somebody else was trying to do, regardless of what a family member would do," he said. "Lisa couldn't be bought, she couldn't be pushed. If she felt that something wasn't in Elvis' best interest, it was never about money. And she really is the only Presley that you could say that about."

He then said that Lisa Marie, the only child of rock legend Elvis Presley, was "quite certain" and "very direct" about who she wanted to carry on the legacy.

"We discussed this many many times [before] she passed, and that was always Riley and Ben," he said of her kids [url=http://priscilla is claiming that the 2010 amendment is still "the authoritative and controlling document%2C" and is requesting the court order the 2016 amendment invalid. a rep for priscilla had no comment when reached by people./]Riley Keough[/url] and Benjamin Keough, whom she shared with ex David Keough. "There was never a question in her mind that they would be the stewards, that they would look at it the exact same way that she did. And obviously when Ben passed, it really sat with Riley."
He also insisted that though Riley has a career in acting and directing, she "always had an interest" and "knew that one day she would be in charge."

Weinshanker concluded by saying that fans should celebrate Lisa Marie's birthday by honoring "her words." And though her death is devastating, he said "the best years of Graceland are ahead of us."

His appearance comes less than a week after attorneys for [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.], Lisa Marie's mom, filed a petition in Los Angeles questioning the "authenticity and validity" of Lisa Marie's will, which states that her trust — which includes [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] and 15 percent ownership of Elvis' estate — would be left to her three daughters.

The petition claimed that a 2016 amendment that put the trust in the hands of Riley, 33, and twins Harper and Finley Lockwood, 14, is invalid.

Priscilla, 77, is claiming that the 2010 amendment is still "the authoritative and controlling document," and is requesting the court order the 2016 amendment invalid. A rep for Priscilla had no comment when reached by PEOPLE.

On Wednesday, Priscilla shared a written statement with PEOPLE honoring Lisa Marie's birthday.

"Today would have been Lisa's 55th birthday. My wish is to protect my three grandchildren and keep our family together," Priscilla wrote.

"From the first moment I held Lisa in my arms, I've protected, loved and guided her, as I have my son," she continued. "Our hearts are broken, and I am having to learn to live without my only daughter."

"We truly love all of you, and we feel your prayers. Thank you so much for caring so deeply for our family," concluded Priscilla's note.

Priscilla [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] on Jan. 12, hours after news that she had been rushed to the hospital broke: "It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us," she said.

According To A 2018 Lawsuit That Lisa Marie Filed Against Her Former Business Manager Barry Siegel, Her Mother Priscilla Presley Earned Nearly $1 Million A Year Even Without Stake In The Company.

Priscilla Presley got $900K a year from Elvis Enterprises without company stake: lawsuit

Priscilla Presley was making $900,000 a year from Elvis Presley Enterprises despite having no stake in the company, according to a lawsuit.
When Priscilla’s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] for “negligently” mishandling her money, she noted in the lawsuit that Siegel had “allowed (and, in fact, lobbied)” her mother’s nearly seven-figure income.
Lisa’s lawyers added Priscilla was being paid “even though Lisa’s mother has no ownership in EPE (nor was she performing any sort of executive-level work to justify the salary).”
“Siegel failed to disclose these facts to Lisa and he did not negotiate the same salary benefit for Lisa,” the complaint, obtained by Page Six, stated.
Siegel disputed Lisa’s claims in the lawsuit against him, and it dragged on for another two years before being settled out of court.
However, the scathing document could yet work in Priscilla’s favor.
At its conclusion, it lists her as “co-trustee” of Lisa Marie’s fund while the “Lights Out” singer’s kids — Riley and Benjamin Keough — were listed as “adult children of the beneficiary,” who would benefit upon her death.
Priscilla has been back in the news this week after she [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] to Lisa Marie’s trust which struck her and Siegel’s names as Co-Trustees, claiming it was fraudulent due to a suspicious signature and a misspelling of her name.
It is unclear why Priscilla would need to administer any of the value of Lisa Marie’s estate when daughter Riley is 33 and able to make financial decisions herself. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Priscilla Presley asks fans to ‘ignore the noise’ amid Lisa Marie trust drama
By Bernie Zilio and Francesca BacardiFebruary 3, 2023 | 5:05pm

Priscilla Presley is asking fans to “ignore the noise” amid ongoing tensions surrounding the trust of her late daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, whose father was the late Elvis Presley.

“I loved Elvis very much as he loved me. Lisa is a result of our love. For anyone to think anything differently would be a travesty of the family legacy and would be disrespectful of what Elvis left behind in his life,” the King of Rock and Roll’s widow, 77, told Page Six in a statement on Friday.

Though Priscilla did not identify the “individual,” Joel Weinshanker — managing partner at Elvis Presley Enterprises — recently weighed in on the drama on Sirius XM’s Elvis Radio, saying that Lisa Marie was “quite certain” and “very direct” about who she wanted in control of her assets and legacy.

“We discussed this many, many times [before] she passed, and [it] was always Riley and Ben,” he said of her oldest children: daughter Riley Keough, 33, and son Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in July 2020 at the age of 27.

“There was never a question in her mind that they would be the stewards, that they would look at it the exact same way that she did. And obviously, when Ben passed, it really sat with Riley.”

Priscilla concluded her cryptic statement by asking fans to “please ignore ‘the noise'” as she forges “a pathway forward with respect, honesty, dignity, integrity and love.”

She began the process of contesting her daughter’s will, which had eliminated her and her former business manager years ago, just days after Lisa Marie was laid to rest at Graceland — Elvis’ Memphis, Tenn., estate — next to Ben.

The singer-songwriter died on Jan. 12 at the age of 54 after going into cardiac arrest.

In court documents obtained by Page Six, Priscilla claimed Lisa Marie’s signature on a 2016 amendment appeared “inconsistent” and said her daughter’s name had been misspelled.

After the filing, a source close to Lisa Marie told us that Priscilla’s attempt to invalidate the will was merely a “money grab,” noting that the mother-daughter duo had “no relationship” at the time of Lisa Marie’s death.

How Riley Keough Feels About Grandma Priscilla Presley Challenging Mom Lisa Marie's Trust
By Paige Gawley‍ 12:34 PM PST, February 3, 2023

Riley Keough "is disappointed" that Priscilla Presley is challenging Lisa Marie Presley's trust. A source tells ET that Riley feels that Priscilla's challenge to the late Lisa Marie's will goes against "her mom's wishes."

"Riley wants to keep the family together and keep Lisa Marie's legacy in a positive light, but she feels that her grandmother's actions are pushing the family apart even more," the source says. "It's upsetting to her as she does want to have a relationship with Priscilla, but at this point in time they are not close."

As for Lisa Marie, the source says that she "did not have a healthy or close relationship" with Priscilla prior to her death, adding that things were "very complicated" between them.

"Lisa Marie was struggling, and it definitely put a strain on her relationship with her mother," the source says. "Lisa Marie always felt Priscilla was trying to have control over her."

Given that, the source says that Lisa Marie "always meant for her children to inherit her trust." Lisa Marie was also mom to Benjamin, who died in July 2020.

"Lisa always wanted Riley and Benjamin to be the beneficiaries of the trust and that was no secret," the source says, adding that the late singer's "children meant the world to her, and she would do anything for them."

Following Lisa Marie's death on Jan. 12, her rep confirmed to ET that Graceland, the former home of her father, Elvis Presley, would go to her three daughters: 33-year-old Riley, and 14-year-old twins Harper and Finley.

It later came to light that Riley and Benjamin were named co-trustees of Lisa Marie's trust in 2016. However, Priscilla is contesting "the authenticity and validity" of Riley's appointment, claiming that "there are many issues surrounding" it.

Amid the legal challenge, Joel Weinshanker, a Managing Partner at Elvis Presley Enterprises, spoke out in favor of Riley maintaining her trustee role in the wake of Lisa Marie's death.

"When Elvis passed away, he left everything to his little girl. He did so knowing that she would be the one to keep his legacy going," he said during an appearance on SiriusXM's Elvis Radio. "I can tell you that [Lisa Marie] has, without falter, no matter what else was happening in her life, in her career, always been the one to look at what was best for Elvis... regardless of what somebody else was trying to do, regardless of what another family member [was trying to] do."

"We just want to think about what Lisa would've wanted and that's what's best for Elvis. She never had a doubt in her mind that that's Riley," Joel added. "There's no question on anyone's mind [because] Lisa had spoken [about] it, there's numerous amounts of written information, she had talked to so many of her friends about it. There was never a question, and anybody who's speaking differently isn't looking out for Elvis, isn't looking out for Lisa, certainly isn't looking out for Riley."

In a statement to ET on Friday, Priscilla spoke out about the situation.

"I loved Elvis very much as he loved me. Lisa is a result of our love," Priscilla said. "For anyone to think anything differently would be a travesty of the family legacy and would be disrespectful of what Elvis left behind in his life."

"There is an individual that bought their way into the family enterprise that is trying to speak on behalf of our family. This person is not a representative of Elvis or our family," she added, without sharing whom she was referring to. "Please allow us the time we need to work together and sort this out. Please ignore 'the noise.' As I have always been there for Elvis' legacy, our family and the fans, I will continue to forge a pathway forward with respect, honesty, dignity, integrity and love."

Priscilla did not identify the individual she referenced in her statement.

Priscilla Presley Predicted To Win Legal Battle Over Lisa Marie Presley's Will

The 77-Year-Old Actress Has Filed Documents To Contest An Amendment In Her Late Daughter's Will That Removed Her And The Singer's Former Business Manager Barry Siegel From Being In Charge Of Her Trust.

Feb 3, 2023
AceShowbiz - Priscilla Presley has a "good chance" of victory in her battle over Lisa Marie Presley's will. The 77-year-old actress recently filed documents to contest an amendment to her late daughter Lisa Marie's will, which removed her and the singer's former business manager Barry Siegel from being in charge of her trust and replaced them with the star's eldest kids, Riley Keough, 33, and Benjamin, who took his own life in 2020, and now a legal expert has predicted that the odds of victory could be in her favor, but warned that the proceedings could "drag on for years."

Benny Roshan, a probate, trusts and estates litigation attorney based in L.A, told PEOPLE, "The law basically says follow whatever is in the document, and then the document says this is what you have to do. So if the court is looking at it and truly those procedures were not followed, Priscilla has a good case of arguing that this new document that essentially replaces her is not valid. That's a good point if it was never followed. Cases like this depend on whether or not other interested parties and family members disagree with Priscilla's position. If no one objects it can be completed in as little as a few months, If someone objects to her position and takes a contrary position, e.g. that the 2016 amendment is valid, the litigation can drag out for years."

Priscilla, who married late music legend Elvis Presley in 1967 but split from him four years before his 1977 death and went on to have Navarone, 35, with entrepreneur Marco Garibaldi, recently explained that she is going to court over 2016 in the amendment because her only "wish" is to keep her family together.

She said, "Today would have been Lisa's 55th birthday. My wish is to protect my three grandchildren and keep our family together. From the first moment I held Lisa in my arms, I’ve protected, loved and guided her, as I have my son. Our hearts are broken, and I am having to learn to live without my only daughter."

Lisa Marie Presley would be ‘pissed’ at mom’s move to control estate: pals

Lisa Marie Presley’s friends are certain that she would be “pissed” by her mother’s attempts to take charge of her estate. It has been just over two weeks since Lisa Marie, the only daughter of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, died at age 54 on January 12 after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest at her Calabasas, California home.

With her body barely laid to rest next to her beloved son, Benjamin, and her father at the family estate, Graceland, in Memphis, Tennessee, her mother has launched a legal challenge against the estate.

Sources told The Post that Lisa Marie and her mother were basically estranged for close to eight years before her passing. One friend revealed that Priscilla, who had been a longtime trustee of the Elvis estate, making $900,000-a-year, failed to have her contract renewed by Elvis Presley Enterprises in 2020.

The friend added that mother and daughter did not even want to sit close to each other at the Golden Globes last month to celebrate the nominated movie “Elvis,” saying: “Lisa didn’t want to have anything to do with her mom. She was basically estranged from Priscilla for the last seven to eight years. They only talked when there was no option.

“At the Golden Globes, they were made to sit together by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association … Lisa didn’t even go with Priscilla, Jerry Schilling [a longtime Elvis friend] was her chaperone. The HFP pushed [mother and daughter] together.”

The HFP declined to comment, as did a rep for the Elvis estate.
According to Priscilla’s petition, seen by The Post, Lisa Marie wrote a living will in 1993 and amended it in 2010, making Priscilla, 77, a co-trustee alongside her former business manager Barry Siegel, whom she later sued for mismanagement.

After Lisa Marie’s death, Priscilla discovered an amendment that had been added in 2016, axing both Priscilla and Siegel as co-trustees and replacing them with Lisa Marie’s daughter Riley Keough; son Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide in 2020; and her twin girls, Finley and Harper Lockwood, now 14.

Priscilla is now contesting the will’s validity.

“Lisa would be pissed!” said one longtime friend of Lisa Marie, who was close to her for more than 12 years. “She would be so upset that Priscilla is doing this. Riley is an amazing trustee … and Lisa’s youngest daughters are in the best of hands with her.”

The friend laid bare the difficult relationship between Lisa Marie and her mother, adding: “I know with Lisa and Priscilla that they always had a strange relationship. They were often estranged.

“It was quite often Priscilla, Lisa Marie’s half-brother, Navarone, and her ex-husband Michael Lockwood together in one corner … It was always a bone of contention for Lisa.

“But I was shocked to see a filing for the trust from the Priscilla side.”

Indeed, Lockwood, with whom Lisa Marie had been embroiled in a lengthy divorce and custody battle which only ended in October, was invited to her funeral at the behest of Priscilla, according to the friend. “Neither Navarone nor Michael were on the guest list. Michael said he had to chaperone the twins, [but] he didn’t even have a seat, and Priscilla sorted it out.”

Priscilla, Lockwood, and Garibaldi also share the same publicist, who declined to comment.
This week, Joel Weinshanker, a managing partner at Elvis Presley Enterprises, told SiriusXM’s Elvis Radio that Lisa Marie was “very very certain” that her estate should be left to her children, revealing: said: ‘[It] was always Riley and Ben.

“There was never a question in her mind that they would be the stewards, that they would look at it exactly the way she did. Obviously, when Ben passed, it really sat with Riley.

“Although Riley is a movie star [and] an award-winning director, she had always had an interest and had always known that one day, she would be in charge of [things].”

Reps for Riley were unavailable for comment.

As The Post previously reported, Priscilla and Lisa Marie had a difficult relationship for many years. Former Scientologist Karen de la Carrierre claimed that Priscila would drop off Lisa Marie with her for “auditing” or counseling, when the girl was just 9 or 10, with the directive “Handle her.”

The friend said that Lisa Marie had also had a “falling out” with her brother Navarone, whose father was Priscilla’s ex boyfriend Marco Garibaldi, a couple of years ago. whose father was Priscilla’s ex boyfriend Marco Garibaldi, a couple of years ago, claiming: “He wrote some vile social media post on her, which he later deleted.”

Garibaldi, 35, even managed to spill the beans on his niece Riley’s newborn baby daughter’s name, Tupelo – after Elvis’ hometown in Mississippi – in an Instagram Live session, as spotted by eagle-eyed fans online.

Riley only broke the news of her daughter’s birth at her mother’s funeral when she wrote in a speech, read by her husband Ben Smith-Petersen Smith as she was too grief-stricken to speak, “I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me.”

Garibaldi admitted after his sister’s passing in an Instagram post: “I wish things had been different between us. Regardless, you are my sister and I’m sending love and prayers for your journey home.”

This week, he spoke to People magazine, talking about his drug addiction and saying of his sister’s death, “It’s still surreal.

“However, Riley has been so good with the twins,” he added. Garibaldi was unavailable for comment.
According to the court filing, Priscilla has appointed Brigitte Kruse, a memorabilia auctioneer, as attorney-in-fact for her on the will petition.

David A. Esquibias, an LA-based probate attorney, told The Post this means Kruse has been given power of attorney.

Kruse and her husband started Kruse GWS Auctions Inc. in 2009, according to the company’s website. They have collaborated with Priscilla on Elvis memorabilia auctions in the past, though it’s unclear what the terms of their financial partnership may be. Photos of Priscilla and Kruse last August show them preparing to sell jewelry that once belonged to Elvis and his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

The pal said: “I don’t know what Kruse’s reasons are, but I think this all boils down to Graceland. It’s all a bid for control.”

Lisa Marie owned Graceland, which will now go to her children.

Esquibias added that he thinks that Priscilla has a good chance of winning her legal challenge — particularly because she did not receive notice of the amendment while her daughter was alive, as was required.

The petition also notes that Priscilla’s name is misspelled in the document, alleges the amendment was not witnessed or notarized, and questions the authenticity of Lisa Marie’s signature.

However, another high-profile probate lawyer in LA, who declined to be named, disagreed, telling The Post: “Priscila will have to show that Lisa Marie didn’t have the capacity, or it was not her signature or she was pressured to amend the agreement. This will be very hard for her to prove. It’s certainly not uncommon not to give notice of an amendment of a Trust.

“The probate court will look at what is fair and what Lisa Marie wanted. It’s clear what she wanted.”
Attorneys for Riley have yet to respond in the case.

“It’s so sad and upsetting,” said the friend. “They should be a family together united and bonding and healing.”

Battle Brewing Over Lisa Marie Presley’s Estate, Mother Priscilla Wants To Keep Ex Of Late Daughter Away From Elvis Fortune

The sudden death of Elvis Presley’s only child, Lisa Marie, has triggered a new war over the King’s fortune, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Tragic Lisa Marie, 54, died on Jan 12., just four days after what would have been Elvis’ 88th birthday, leaving her mother, Priscilla, caught in the middle of a looming battle over control of Elvis’ legacy and their twin teenage grandchildren, Finley and Harper Lockwood, sources revealed.

Following Lisa Marie’s death, the twins, fathered by guitarist Michael Lockwood, now hold two-thirds of Lisa Marie’s estate. The other third belongs to their 33-year-old half-sister, Riley Keough, from Lisa Marie’s first marriage to musician Danny Keough.

Lisa Marie sold off most of her interest in Elvis’ estate years back. However, she still owned a chunk and had ownership in Graceland. In addition, she was the head of a trust set up by Elvis that had around $65 million, according to her ex-husband.

“Michael is looking to be named executor of his daughters’ trust and finances to gain control of millions in cash,” revealed the source. “But Priscilla believes this is Presley money — and she’ll fight tooth and nail to keep his hands off it!”

Sources revealed that Lockwood, who was finally divorced by Lisa Marie five years after their 2016 split, will likely reignite his long-running legal cash grab.

As RadarOnline.com first reported, last year, Presley agreed to pay Lockwood $6k a month in child support to avoid a messy public trial. Lockwood had demanded support claiming Presley was flush was cash after years of being in financial turmoil.

He pointed to her $3-4 million deal to write a tell-all about Elvis and Michael Jackson and the biopic starring Austin Butler that was a box office smash. The two were still fighting over specific verbiage of the support deal at the time of Lisa Marie’s death.

Before Lisa Marie’s death, she had 60 percent custody to his 40 percent. Sources say Lockwood will now have full custody of the kids and Priscilla will not fight him on that. However, sources believe Lockwood will now seek an increase in support.

Priscilla, 77, who was Elvis’ only wife, also wants to ensure she’ll have legal access to the teens and intends to seek a court order to mandate visitation rights, sources said.

Neither Priscilla nor Michael have filed any petition in court yet.

As RadarOnline.com first reported, Lisa Marie died with nearly $3 million owed to various creditors.

Lisa Marie Presley's Daughter Riley 'Tense' Ahead of Legal Battle With Priscilla Over $35M Estate
By Angeline Sicily Feb 14, 2023 06:09 PM EST

Lisa Marie Presley's daughter, Riley Keough, was spotted looking tense during a recent outing ahead of her court showdown with Priscilla Presley.

Upon Lisa Marie Presley's death, it was revealed that she had a whopping $1.1 million unpaid loan and unsettled taxes. However, she secured her family by taking out multiple life insurance policies, leading her estate to have $35 million at the time of her passing.

The official documents only named Riley, Harper, and Finley, as the only beneficiaries, but the late singer's mother hit back and filed an appeal to get her hands on Lisa Marie Presley's estate.

As the battle continues, Riley and Priscilla both start preparing before standing before the court.

On Monday, Lisa Marie Presley's daughter was spotted looking tense while she was out with her husband.

Daily Mail shared the photo of the 33-year-old and her husband, Ben Smith-Petersen, as they left the grocery store Erewhon. The news outlet noted that she looked tense as she talked to her husband; in one photo, she was captured holding onto her husband's hand tightly as she bit her lip.

Her outing came after unnamed sources claimed she felt by Priscilla Presley's filing to change the will.

"She can't believe that her grandmother is already at the courthouse trying to get her hands on the estate when Lisa Marie was just buried. It's looking like a huge showdown is brewing!" a source told OK! Magazine.

Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough 'Aren't Communicating' Amid Lisa Marie Presley Trust Battle, Source Says

By Mona Khalifeh‍ 2:56 PM PST, February 16, 2023

Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough are not on speaking terms amid their ongoing battle over Lisa Marie Presley's trust. A source tells ET that it has been a "very tense and heartbreaking few weeks" for both Riley and Priscilla as they mourn the loss of Lisa Marie.

"It has been a very tense and heartbreaking few weeks for both Riley and Priscilla. Riley has been mourning the loss of her mother and is heartbroken to have to deal with a trust dispute with a family member. Priscilla is adamant that she has a valid case and that she will prevail in court. Riley and Priscilla aren't communicating at this time, but have been in communication through lawyers," the source shares.

The source adds that while "they are both gearing up for court, Riley would prefer to settle this dispute privately."

"She is heartbroken that this has turned into a public matter and knows her mother would never want this. Riley is very stressed at the moment and has been trying to keep a positive attitude and outlook ahead of her new series coming out," the source says of Riley's big Daisy Jones & The Six premiere. "Her daughter and husband have been keeping her in good spirits."

As for Priscilla, the source says the family matriarch is doing what she feels "is right in her heart," when it comes to her late daughter's trust.

"She is convinced that old documents had been forged," the source adds.

Following Lisa Marie's death on Jan. 12, her rep confirmed to ET that Graceland, the former home of her father, Elvis Presley, would go to her three daughters: 33-year-old Riley, and 14-year-old twins Harper and Finley.

It later came to light that Riley and Lisa Marie's son, Benjamin -- who died in July 2020 -- were named co-trustees of Lisa Marie's trust in 2016. However, Priscilla is contesting "the authenticity and validity" of Riley's appointment, claiming that "there are many issues surrounding" it.

PRISCILLA PRESLEY’S CHALLENGE
TO DAUGHTER LISA MARIE’S LIVING TRUST

At just nine years old, Priscilla Presley became one of three heirs to her father’s estate when Elvis Presley passed away in 1977. Three years later, after the passing of her grandfather, Vernon, and great-grandmother, Minnie, she became the sole heir. For years, the estate was held in a trust for Lisa Marie — initially set up by her father — and, in 1993, she transferred the estate into a revocable living trust.Often used as a tool to bypass probate, a revocable living trust is intended to provide a simpler transfer of an estate’s assets to a decedent’s heirs. After her death in January 2023, though, Lisa Marie’s mother Priscilla filed a petition regarding her daughter’s trust.
In the following conversation, UW Law Professor Karen Boxx provides background on this matter and answers questions surrounding Priscilla’s petition.

UW Law: Can you tell us why Priscilla Presley is challenging her daughter Lisa Marie Presley's living trust?
Karen Box [KB]: I wouldn't characterize it as a challenge to Lisa Marie's trust and I would explain it with a little bit of background. When Elvis Presley died, he left the bulk of his estate to his daughter — Lisa Marie — in a trust. When the trust was to end, all the property would be distributed to Lisa Marie at a fairly early age, sometime in her 20s, I believe. When the trust ended, however, Lisa Marie chose to take the property and put it back into a trust that she created. In doing so, she retained the power to revoke or amend this trust. She's in control of it, but someone else is managing her money and presumably her mother Priscilla was one of the trustees.

In 2010, Lisa Marie amended the trust, probably because at that point she had children and wanted to put in provisions for them. She continued to name her mother Priscilla and her business manager as co-trustees.

After Lisa Marie's death, according to the petition, Priscilla became aware of an amendment to the trust from 2016. My understanding is that it did one thing: it fired Priscilla and the business manager as trustees and said Lisa Marie would now be the trustee. Then, when Lisa Marie died, Riley Keough, Lisa Marie’s daughter, would take over as sole trustee.

According to the petition, Priscilla had never seen this 2016 amendment. If she was fired in 2016, apparently no one told her, and she had continued to act as the trustee all this time. She received this document after Lisa Marie's death and is asking the court to clarify if this 2016 amendment is valid. There's a requirement in the trust that the amendment be delivered during Lisa Marie’s lifetime to the trustee for it to be effective, but that didn't happen.

There are other problems with this document: it's a copy, they don't have the original. There's a lot of fishy stuff about the signature, it looks weird, and Priscilla's name is misspelled. She is asking for clarification from the court that this 2016 document is of no effect and that she continues as trustee.

UW Law: What will happen if it is found that the 2016 amendment is invalid?
KB: Priscilla and Riley would now be the co-trustees of the trust, which is held for the benefit of Riley and her two half siblings.

UW Law: If it is found to be valid, then only Lisa Marie’s daughter Riley Keough will be the trustee, and not Priscilla?
KB: Correct.

UW Law: Lisa Marie Presley used a living trust as opposed to a will for estate planning purposes. How does a living trust differ from a will?
KB: To use Lisa Marie's planning as an example, she initially set up this trust as a lifetime planning device, because she didn't want to manage her money by herself as a young person. But with a living trust, generally, you put all your property into this trust, and name a trustee. The trust will likely say, “When I die, all the assets in the trust will go to my children.”

All the money in the trust was used for Lisa Marie's benefit while she was alive. When she died, however, it was passed to her children. I don't know this, for sure, but presumably the bulk of Lisa Marie's property was in this trust.
If she hadn't set up this trust when she was young and instead kept the assets in her name, then she would need a will to say, “When I die, my assets go to my children.” And so that will work because it's just in Lisa Marie's name, instead of in the name of the trust. Then, however, we need some court proceeding of probate to effectuate that transfer.

UW Law: What other legal maneuvers could Priscilla personally take if this challenge is unsuccessful?
KB: I don't know that Priscilla would have much avenue to do anything else if the court thinks the 2016 amendment was valid. Her only connection to the trust at this point is as trustee. If she's fired as a trustee, she's out. Then it would be up to Riley to decide whether she wanted to serve alone or whether she would like to add a co-trustee. I don't know what the amendment says about Riley serving alone or if she needs co-trustees, but I don't think Priscilla could do anything to keep her job if they said it was valid.
It seems odd to me that the amendment would be enforced, though. If Lisa Marie really intended to fire her mother in 2016, and take over as trustee, it seems like she would have mentioned it, but she didn't.

UW Law: Do you have any other thoughts or concerns about this that you would like to share?
KB: We don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but my impression upon seeing the petition is that it just sounds like a housekeeping matter. There could be other things, but Priscilla's not asking for money or a cut of Lisa Marie's estate. The media has characterized it as this big war between Priscilla and her grandchildren, that some kind of money grab is going on. I don't see that being the case, at least not in this proceeding.
When you have a famous party like this, that's how the media likes to characterize it. I've seen headlines that say, “Priscilla challenges Lisa Marie's will.” No, there was no will. It's about her job as trustee.

Riley Keough Sees A 'New Side' of Grandma Priscilla Presley: 'But She Doesn't Want A War'

There has been a lot of family conflict since Lisa Marie Presley's death, especially after it was found that Priscilla Presley was left out of her will.

As a result, the former wife of Elvis Presley is at odds with her granddaughter, Riley Keough.

Lisa Marie died suddenly last month at the age of 54 after suffering a heart attack at her Los Angeles home.

With a lot of money on the table, it's no wonder that Priscilla is doubting the will's authenticity.

Priscilla was unaware that Lisa Marie changed her will in 2016 and eliminated her mother as an executor. Instead, she designated Riley and Benjamin as her only heirs. Benjamin, on the other hand, committed himself in 2020, leaving Riley as the sole heir.

Riley and Priscilla's prior tight friendship, according to a source who talked to Page Six, no longer exists. They are, in reality, "not speaking" to each other.

"It's just so heartbreaking," they continued.

This is when the Hollywood star would need her grandma, but due to the financial situation, "Riley is seeing a new side of her grandmother."

"Riley's not looking for a conflict. She's always had a nice connection with her grandma. Lisa had her troubles with her mother, but...she didn't bring [her kids] into [her] personal issues," an insider added.

Lisa Marie Presley apparently knew she would outlast her mother and that there would be no family feuding over a trust that was always intended for Riley and Benjamin.

"Why does Priscilla believe she is best suited to lead things? Why does she believe she should take over?" the insider pondered.

Lisa Marie Presley's Ex-Husband Michael Lockwood Files To Represent Twins In Court For Late Singer's Multi-Million-Dollar Estate

Lisa Marie Presley's ex-husband Michael Lockwood filed to become the legal representation of their twin daughters in the ongoing battle over the late singer's trust.

The news of Lisa Marie's death earlier this year left many questions up in the air, the biggest being, who will inherit the massive estate her father Elvis Presley had left her?

The 54-year-old had two life insurance policies — one for $25 million and another for $10 million. An amendment to her trust left her eldest daughter, Riley Keough, in charge of her estate, but Lisa Marie's mother, Priscilla Presley, is challenging the appointment in court.

Michael is also trying to secure a piece of the pie for the twin daughters, Harper and Finley, and Priscilla is reportedly set to team up with the the musician to challenge Riley in a court of law.

There's been a lot of behind-the-scenes drama over the trust between Lisa Marie's various family members. As Radar previously reported, Priscilla previously attempted petitioning to become the trustee of the multimillion-dollar estate from under her own granddaughter.

She openly questioned the "authenticity and validity" of a 2016 change to her daughter's trust which listed Riley the controller of the estate. The trustee would assume full control over Elvis' Memphis mansion, Graceland and 15% ownership of the legendary singer's catalogue.

Riley has yet to speak publicly about the legal spat with Precilla, but is planning on facing her in court. A source close to the 33-year-old actress even claimed the Daisy Jones and the Six star has seen "a new side of her grandmother."

"Riley’s not looking for a war. She always had a good relationship with her grandmother," the source said. "Lisa had her issues with her mother, but ... she didn’t drag [her kids] into [their] personal issues."

Riley, Priscilla, Michael, as well as other family members will appear in court to go over the trust-related claims on April 13.

Priscilla Presley is 'locked out of Elvis's Graceland mansion by granddaughter Riley Keough who changed the locks on the doors and archives after she contested Lisa Marie's $35million will'

Actress Riley Keough 'changed the locks of the upstairs doors and archives' during a trip to Memphis

The move means that her grandmother, Priscilla, 77, will no longer be able to access the rooms of the estate

It comes after the pair have butted heads in court, with Elvis' ex-wife contesting her daughter's will following her death in January

This was denied later

Elvis's Memphis mansion Graceland DENIES Priscilla Presley was 'locked out by granddaughter Riley Keough amid fallout over Lisa Marie's $35M will: Staff say no locks changed since her death

Graceland's estate has denied that any locks have been changed in Elvis’ former home after the death of his daughter Lisa Marie – amid an ongoing legal batter between Priscilla Presley and her granddaughter Riley Keough.

Sources claimed that Elvis' ex-wife is banned from the estate temporarily after Keough, 33, 'changed the locks on the upstairs doors and archives' on a trip to Memphis.

But a spokesperson for the estate has denied that any locks have been changed since the death of Lisa Marie in January.

A source told RadarOnline Angie Marchese, Priscilla and Lisa Marie previously had the only keys.

Neither Keough nor Priscilla, 77, have commented publicly amid their ongoing battle over Lisa Marie's $35million will.

Lisa Marie Presley's Attorney Asks Court to Dismiss Custody Case With Ex-Husband Michael Lockwood

Lisa Marie Presley's custody battle with ex-husband Michael Lockwood is seemingly nearing a conclusion.

Lisa Marie's attorney, Gary Fishbein, attended the custody hearing via Zoom on Tuesday, and told Judge Joseph Lipner that the case should be dismissed because nothing else regarding the custody battle is pending and his client is "sadly no longer with us."

Fishbein said their marriage status was dissolved and child support order survives. Custody will go to Lockwood unless another family disputes under the probate court. The judge did not yet officially grant the request for dismissal.

Lisa Marie married Lockwood -- her fourth husband -- in January 2006. In 2016, Lisa Marie filed for divorce from Lockwood after 10 years of marriage. The pair shared 14-year-old twin daughters, Harper and Finley.

The two had been engaged in an ongoing custody battle since their split, and the two only finalized their divorce in May 2021. Lisa Marie -- daughter of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley -- died after suffering cardiac arrest on Jan. 12 at age 54.

The news comes just days after Lockwood -- who did not attend the custody court hearing -- formally asked the court to appoint him as guardian ad litem so he can represent his twin daughters' interest in Lisa Marie's ongoing trust battle.
According to legal docs, obtained by ET, which he filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Thursday, Lockwood said he should be appointed as the guardian to represent the twins in an upcoming hearing in probate court, which is slated for April 13.

In the documents, Lockwood notes he wants to officially be appointed as the twins' guardian because "the minor is a beneficiary of a trust at issue before the probate court in the above-referenced case. The minor requires appointment of a guardian ad litem to represent her interests in the proceeding."

He added, "There is no conflict regarding appointment because the proposed guardian is not a beneficiary of the trust instrument at issue." Harper and Finley each signed the form consenting to Lockwood being their guardian.

ET recently spoke with entertainment attorney Richard Roth, who weighed in with his expert legal opinion on Lockwood's request to be named guardian ad litem.

"Guarding over the business is really what Mr. Lockwood is trying to to get. This is akin to Britney Spears, and her father, who became the guardian over her," Roth shared. "Both the estate of Elvis and the estate of Lisa Marie would go into their hands, and he essentially wants to control the money of these girls because they are young, and because he's claiming that he's the proper one, he's the one suited to essentially take over the finances of these two young girls."

"So it's clear that Mr. Lockwood, being the father, is entitled to representation. That's his right as a parent. He's the only parent that's alive, so he certainly has plenty of rights," Roth stated. "But this is different. This is who is going to essentially run the business, where the money is going to go, into what bank account, who controls the bank account. It's very different than raising your children and being in charge of their business, which is what he's seeking."

"If he can prove to the court that his interests are genuine, and that it's for his daughters, which it may very well be, then he very well could be [named] the guardian," Roth added.

It's unclear how the potential dismissal of Lisa Marie's custody case with Lockwood may impact Lockwood's request to be named guardian ad litem.

This is the latest development in Lisa Marie's ongoing trust battle. Following her death, her rep confirmed to ET that Graceland, the former home of her famous father, would go to her three daughters: 33-year-old Riley Keough, and the 14-year-old twins.

It later came to light that Riley and Lisa Marie's son, Benjamin -- who died in July 2020 -- were named co-trustees of Lisa Marie's trust in 2016. However, Priscilla is contesting in court "the authenticity and validity" of Riley's appointment, claiming that "there are many issues surrounding" it.

A source previously told ET that it has been a "very tense and heartbreaking few weeks" for both Riley and Priscilla as they mourn the loss of Lisa Marie.

The source added that while "they are both gearing up for court, Riley would prefer to settle this dispute privately."

"She is heartbroken that this has turned into a public matter and knows her mother would never want this. Riley is very stressed at the moment and has been trying to keep a positive attitude and outlook ahead of her new series coming out," the source said of Riley's big Daisy Jones & The Six premiere. "Her daughter and husband have been keeping her in good spirits."

Riley Keough FURIOUS Priscilla Presley Sided With Lisa Marie's Ex Michael Lockwood -- As He's Granted Custody Of Her Sisters!

The feud between Priscilla Presley and Riley Keough is getting messier.

As we’ve been reporting, the Daisy Jones & The Six star has been clashing with her grandmother since her mom Lisa Marie Presley’s tragic death in January. The two family members are fighting over the late musician’s trust, which includes the lucrative rights to Elvis Presley Enterprises and Graceland. Priscilla filed a petition challenging her daughter’s wishes after learning of a 2016 decision to remove her and her ex-manager Barry Siegal as trustees, replaced with Riley (and her late brother Benjamin Keough). This has been a major source of friction between the pair – to the point where they’re not even speaking to each other right now.

But apparently, their bitter feud runs a lot deeper than just the issues over the trust. In fact, it goes back to when Lisa Marie was in a nasty legal battle with her ex-husband Michael Lockwood. After breaking up with the 61-year-old in 2016, the singer went to court with him for years to fight over the custody of their twin daughter, Finley and Harper. During their legal dispute, Lisa Marie shockingly accused Michael of having “disturbing” photos and videos of child pornography on his computer. He denied everything at the time.

Despite the serious allegations against him, Priscilla sided with Michael — something which may have led to Lisa Marie’s decision to remove her mom as a trustee in the first place! Not only did this feel like a betrayal to Lisa, it also bothered Riley — who “was always on her mom’s side when it came to Michael.”

Ultimately the worst of the allegations were dropped, and Michael and Lisa Marie’s battle ended with them getting shared custody of their daughters. But with the death of the singer-songwriter, the custody issue was brought to court — and it looks like Priscilla has gone against her family yet again!

According to DailyMail.com, the producer was granted full custody of his and Lisa Marie’s 14-year-old kids during a brief family court hearing in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Judicial assistant Gus Morales explained to the outlet that the court recognized the dad has “de facto” full custody of Harper and Finley. California law states that when one parent passes away, the other receives full custody unless the court determines they’re an unfit parent. Since Priscilla never objected, nor did any other family member file documents claiming he was an unfit parent, Michael got custody of the girls.

As you might expect, Riley wasn’t too happy about the decision, or her grandma’s part in it. The outlet reported the 33-year-old actress is furious over “losing” her sisters to Michael, who is considered an “outsider” in the family. Given the horrifying allegations against the guitarist, no one could blame her for being concerned and angered over how the legal case played out. It also must have felt like a huge betrayal from Priscilla for siding with Michael — again!

On top of getting full custody, Michael filed documents to become the twins’ guardian ad litem to represent them in the trust battle — and he is, of course, on team Priscilla. This means he could go against Riley when the family goes to court over the issue on April 13, on behalf of his kids. So no wonder the actress is upset right now! (And no wonder Priscilla is on his side, if you believe the worst about her…)

It’s such a complicated situation, and it seems like the feud will only worsen as Riley and Priscilla get closer to their hearing. We’ll have to wait and see how things turn out. Reactions to the latest, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments below.
